Highlighting the December 3335 Double Rainbow
A New event was coming up, Double Rainbow this time.
I had a special invitation to Mount Olympus. What I was supposed to do there was another question entirely.
To start with, none of the regular contenders there had less than 100 levels on me, and a couple had 200. In addition, all of them had 42 Mechs vs my 35.
To add insult to injury I was in my 30 formation. Bruno's reaction when he discovered I had fought on K2 and needed more upgrades had been volcanic. Luckily for me I had been outside the compound at the time, but until he cooled a bit there was no way I would get into range of him.
But I needed a place to put my Mechs. Since the scramble was a long way off I figured we would be pretty safe parked on the plains ringing Mount Olympus.
So we registered and got inside. Rigging up a bivouac and putting up plenty of white flags to indicate we would move further out without need of bloodshed, we headed for the sleeping area. Some distant thunder as others felt each other on the teeth made me turn back and set up some recording equipment.
Good thing I did though. Either my initial info was faulty, or the end time got changed. We were woken by officials who told us to get out since the contest was over. A review of the footage showed the winners this time had been:
- Div 1 253+ (22 Commanders): Fabio Favaro, Warlock (1m,7s)
- Div 2 -252 (14 Commanders): Dan Ross; Death`s Collector`s(12h,14m)
- Div 3 -186 (18 Commanders): Joshua Eifort, Northwind Dragons (7h,44m)
- Div 4 -139 (31 Commanders): James Waddington, Northwind Dragons (42m,43s)
- Div 5 -113 (31 Commanders): Spike Shepard, B.S.L.R. (8m,38s)
- Div 6 -91 (24 Commanders): Chris Page, Death`s Disturbed Asylum (22h,30m)
- Div 7 -71 (30 Commanders): Rodney Skilton, Emerald Dragons (2h,35m)
- Div 8 -56 (25 Commanders): Bob Becker, UNDERWORLD (7s)
- Div 9 -37 (8 Commanders): Sandie Elgie, Death`s Acolytes (1d,4h)
- Div 10 -27 (36 Commanders): Steeven Petit, Punishers Guild (9h,44m)
- Div 11 -23 (35 Commanders): Zaka Restu, Mikazuki (13h,59m)
- Div 12 -12 (35 Commanders): Sunin Myeyes (9h,21m)
Total Contestants: 309, Total medals claimed: 172 (of 180 possible)
Compared to the recent Dirty 30 we managed to draw the attention of eighty-six additional Commanders. The lack of Commanders on K2 and K9 continues, and a total of eight Bronzes were sent for resmelting after the award ceremony.
Three Golds changed hands the last half-hour, one of them the last few seconds. On the other hand eight Golds were held for more than two hours, one of them for more than a day. Fighting for the rest of the prizes was pretty lackluster as well, as evidenced by the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event:
.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....1 of 4.........8 of 10
Div 2 ....4 of 4.........9 of 9
Div 3 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 4 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 5 ....3 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 6 ....4 of 4.........8 of 10
Div 7 ....3 of 4.........9 of 10
Div 8 ....3 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 9 ....4 of 4.........1 of 3
Div 10 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 11 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 12 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10
A grand total of 16 medals changed hands, six of them on Mount Olympus, Not a single successful medal attack on half of the tops.
Northwind Dragons was the only clan to claim multiple Golds, They brought home the top prize from both K3 and K4. None of the 30 ton winners managed to grab a follow-up Gold, but we had an unaligned winner; Sunin Myeyes on K12.
Sunin Myeyes have been around for a while. The first medal claimed was a Silver in the July `18 Double Rainbow. Since then seven Bronzes and four additional Silvers have been added to the trophy Collection, but this was the first Gold.
At lvl 10 the biggest base available is the 8 Mech Themis Base. As none of the skill points have been used yet, the heaviest Mech that can be safely piloted is still 45 tons.
Upcoming Event: Waaaaaaar Horse
This is the second ever WarHorse event. In this case it is a split event. Those on the lowest top are allowed to use any Mechs they want, while those Commanders competing on the 11 highest tops are restricted to using WarHorses only. And yes, that means this time no two other Mechs allowed here.
Equipment and weapons work as normal.
Event ends June 5 between 2300 and 2330 New York Time
Any fresh winners can try to get in touch to tell their story, the first to grab hold of me before the report is finished might get a few Niodes for sharing their thoughts.
