Highlighting the August 3331 Point Mech Panic
Another event was coming up, and I was invited to K2.
It was a Single Mech event, and after some considerations I decided to use a Fext. They have an enormous throw weight, and properly equipped they are fast and lethal.
Of course, as my grades were insufficient to get the most out of it (my licence is 40 lower than needed to get all the upgrades), I had less multiples and Laser enhancements than it would get later. The lacking shield module could be made without, but the last engine would be sorely missed.
But. My forces were dispatched to the mountain. Their orders were to hold as best they could and take notes of the opponents strenghts and weaknesses. I returned to fighting the War, both in Main and Meta. As the scramble neared I returned to find my forces out on the plains, and my super stocks low.
There were some I might beat, but in the Point duels you must be super strong (which I wasn't) or time it correctly. Otherwise you get into duels or furballs too early, get exhausted and see someone else stroll in and take the top unopposed as all who fought over it are out of energy.
Putting my hand into the coin bag, the doubloon I pulled was the 3127 Clarke Federation. Ok, it would be a late ending, so I told my crew to wait for it and got a comfortable position in my chair.
I dozed off, I heard a few explosions, but nothing to indicate the serious fighting had started yet. Setting my battle senses to alert me when the fighting started in earnest I dozed on.
And fell asleep. The fighting on my top was close to nonexistent, and when my crew woke me up, the fight was over and the winners were:

Might be there were plenty of Commanders who had tired of the fighting, or perhaps they were busy in the Meta. I refuse to believe they didnt have at least one mech to send. Participation dropped by eight, but the brackets were pretty uneven. Three divisions (1, 3 and 7) had each at least as many contestants as the three lowest put together. This caused one Silver and fifteen Bronzes to be sent for resmelting.
The scramble lasted nearly the full time possible, and ten of the Gold medals changed hands at least once in that period, five of them were decided the last ten seconds. One Gold was held for more than two hours.
Fighting varied greatly among the various mountains, a quick glance show that the number of lesser medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event was:

On K 9 and K 11 not a single medal changed hands, while all were in play on K1.
On most of the seven highest peaks, K2 being the exception, the fighting for the Gold, or at least for the Silver medals was pretty intense. Of the 24 Silvers only 8 were held for more than 5 minutes.
The most winning Mech was the Boreas (3 Wins), The only other to secure more than one Gold was the Dreadnought (2) The single Crystal Mech to secure a Gold was the Oggun.
We had one unaligned winner this time; Adam Korbussa on K12. No clan managed to secure more than one Gold. There were two repeat winners this time; Colin Toenjes of Heroes on K3 and Map Chap from the UNDERWORLD on K9.
Upcoming event: Fifty Chrono
Here the heaviest Mechs you are allowed to bring into the fray is 50 tonners. The craftsmen allow you to bring heavier Mechs, it is you who are the Commander after all, but those Mechs will just exist as a gaping hole in the formation and make it easier for opponents to blow you apart.
In addition it is a Chrono. So it is the performance during the Whole of the Climb that determines who wins, not necessarily who hold the top positions when the light flashes.
