August 3333 - King of the Mountain

Highlighting the August 3333 King of the Mountain (unlimited)
The victory party after the defeat of the Scipioists were long. I woke up the morning after feeling every bit of at least twice my age.

But even after a victory, there is lots of repairs to do, requests to be made and paperwork to be filled out. In my reduced state I was barely capable of doing the most necessary of these details. Then some conferences had to be attended to, and frankly I forgot all about the climb.

I was in the middle of some delicate negotiations when I got a beeper from one of my clan mates, asking if I wasn't attending. It took me some moments to figure what was meant, then I mentally slapped my forehead.

The Climb!

Scramble was seconds away, and there was no way I could get free in time to lead my forces to the mountain and register. All I could do was to ask for notes and footage so I could make a report to you, my faithful readers.

When I finally got back to camp and reviewed the footage, I found that this time the winners had been:

  • Div 1 239+ (31 Commanders): Dexter Berry, Warlock (16m,21s)
  • Div 2 -238 (13 Commanders): John T Mainer, Spirit of Bunny (3h,31m)
  • Div 3 -180 (33 Commanders): Michael Beagle, Death`s Brethren (4h,45m)
  • Div 4 -128 (36 Commanders): Joshua Eifort, Northwind Dragons (15h,47m)
  • Div 5 -107 (37 Commanders): Willie Walton, T.B. BlackWatch (8h,54m)
  • Div 6 -88 (34 Commanders): David Sifford, Steampunk Dragons (1d,4h)
  • Div 7 -68 (30 Commanders): Craig Robb, mad pork bbq2 (18h,37m)
  • Div 8 -54 (23 Commanders): Estella Eifort, M.P.A. "Elite" (1d,16h)
  • Div 9 -42 (15 Commanders): Arikel, JC`s Rowdy Bunch (1d,8h)
  • Div 10 -31 (18 Commanders): Paul Kitchen, Punishers Guild (5h,19m)
  • Div 11 -22 (14 Commanders): Lisa Liney, clown clan (8h,57m)
  • Div 12 -17 (22 Commanders): BatManBW, Punishers Guild (1d,3h)

Total Contestants: 306, Total medals claimed: 177 (of 180 possible)

Compared to the iMech event we just had the number of Commanders who found the time to attend rose sharply. 129 additional Commanders joined the event, an increase of over 70%, The spread was not even, and a total of 3 Bronzes were sent for resmelting. The one from K11 can probably be explained by the narrow bracket, the two from K2 might be due to the high fame factor for gaining medals there.

I am not sure if the timing of the end were the reason for the lack of successful attacks the last half-hour. Only one Gold changed hands, while all the other 11 were held for more than two hours. In fact four of them were held for more than a day. It could be that the winners were unapproachable, but there was not much action lower either as evidenced by the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event:

.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....1 of 4.........7 of 10
Div 2 ....4 of 4.........6 of 8
Div 3 ....4 of 4.........7 of 10
Div 4 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 5 ....2 of 4.........9 of 10
Div 6 ....0 of 4.........7 of 10
Div 7 ....1 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 8 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 9 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 10 ..3 of 4.........9 of 10
Div 11 ..4 of 4.........9 of 9
Div 12 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10

On five tops (K4, K8, K9, K11 and K12) there was not a single successful medal attack during the scramble. on all tops more than half the Medals were held for at least that length of time. A mere 11 of 48 Silvers (23%) and 13 of 117 Bronzes (11%) got New holders.

There were neither unaligned nor repeat winners this time. The only clan to get multiple Gold was Punishers Guild, they brought home top prize from both the L10 and K12.

Upcoming event: Mountain of Fire

This is one of those unlimited events who have a twist. You can bring whatever Mechs you want, (as long as you have them and can find a place for them in the formation) although bringing Mechs heavier than you can pilot or Mechs not fully upgraded have its drawbacks.
The twist this time is that Fire weapons deal 80% more damage than usual. I wonder if it is a result of high sulfur and oxygen content on the tops, but don't worry to much about why, concentrate on what. Getting your Fire formation ready (what, you don't have one yet? In that case tweak the main formation a bit, swap in some fire Mechs, use some more fire weapons, and make sure the fire Shields is up to snuff. Then record the changes and voila, the Fire formation is ready for this and other times.) and sending it to the mountain should be a question of minutes. This is a sudden death event, so being high up during the scramble is a requirement for getting prizes.

Equipment and the other four weapon types work as normal.

(Event ends March 27 between 2300 and 2330 New York Time)

Any fresh winners can try to get in touch to tell their story, the first to grab hold of me before the report is finished might get a few Niodes for sharing their thoughts.
