May 3332 - Reverse Ratman

Highlighting the May 3332 Reverse Ratman

The first event after my special invitations had run out was an old classic; Reverse Ratman.
Or to say it more clearly; it was a Namtar event.

The original communique stated it was an 80 ton event, but on K1-K6 all except two Mechs had to be Namtars, On K7-K12 you could use a pure 80 ton force.

After a while the craftsmen changed the rules to something more sensible.
The heaviest Mechs allowed were now 60 ton, and on the mountains where all the regular invitees could purchase Namtar`s (K1-K9) it was the mandated Mech, in addition to up to two non-Namtars of up to 60 ton.

[This rule change might have caught some off guard, but to my eyes the proportion of overweight formations who claimed Medals were actually lower than normal]

I told my suicide squad to get ready, and after adding a couple of Novums as scouts we went over to the mountain.
As it was still early, we picked the best vantage point, the top foothill, and my crew were told to hold and take notes.

Then I left for other duties, (paperwork, mining, recruitment, war preparations and suchlike)
As the scramble neared and I was about to return to the mountain a crisis came up. As I was the only senior officer present it fell on me to resolve it.
It took some time to get to the core and find a solution, and when it was finally done, the scramble were over and those who had claimed the tops were:

  • Div 1 227+ (27 Commanders): Bernard Johnson, Warlock (1h,3m)
  • Div 2 -226 (12 Commanders): Randy Taylor, Omegas Legacy (4h,1m)
  • Div 3 -166 (20 Commanders): Colin Toenjes, Heroes (12h,54m)
  • Div 4 -125 (29 Commanders): Stroker Spot, Omegas Legacy (1h,25m)
  • Div 5 -101 (25 Commanders): Yusuke Paul Okabayashi, M&L B.W. (3h,46m)
  • Div 6 -83 (23 Commanders): Eman Eliforp, Mad Scientist 7 (6h,31m)
  • Div 7 -67 (31 Commanders): Mark Scott, Knights of Chaos (8h,19m)
  • Div 8 -49 (24 Commanders): Paul Olenen, Behemoth (11h,26m)
  • Div 9 -38 (14 Commanders): Noir Seluir, UNDERWORLD (4h,15m)
  • Div 10 -29 (15 Commanders): Anthony Cozzi, Behemoth (30m,13s)
  • Div 11 -20 (16 Commanders): Paul Kitchen, Arkham Asylum (1h,57s)
  • Div 12 -17 (23 Commanders): Robert Pawulski, Arkham Asylum (14h,52m)

Total Contestants: 259, Total medals claimed: 176 (of 180 possible)

2+7(1S)+6+4+2+8(3S)+7(G)+4(1S)+2(1S)+1+0+0= One Gold, six Silvers and thirty-six Bronzes were awarded to Commanders who had one or more overweight Mechs in their formation.

Compared to the Firemountain, this event drew 63 fewer Commanders. But as the spread was more even, only four Bronzes were sent for resmeilting, 3 from K2 and one from K9.

I think this is the first event in a very long time where ALL the Golds were held for more than half an hour, seven were held for more than two hours.
When it came to the rest of the medals, there was little or no change there either. The number of lesser medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event was:

.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....3 of 4.........6 of 10
Div 2 ....3 of 4.........6 of 7
Div 3 ....2 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 4 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 5 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 6 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 7 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 8 ....2 of 4.........7 of 10
Div 9 ....4 of 4.........9 of 9
Div 10 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 11 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 12 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10

That is nine mountain taps without even one successful attack the last 30 minutes, and even on the three tops who saw action the majority of those who had gotten into position kept it. Only nine medals all told changed holders.

There were three clans who managed to grab dual Gold in this event:
Omegas Legacy on K2 and K4, Behemoth on K8 and K9. Arkham Asylum secured K11 and K12.
There were no unaligned winners, but Paul Kitchen from Arkham Asylum repeated his Gold performance from the Firemountain.

Upcoming event: King of the Mountain (unlimited)
This is the classic, unlimited, sudden death contest. Bring what Mechs you want and can fit into the formation. As always, consider carefully any Mechs you don't have the mastery of yet, Kickback can ruin your day.
Equipment and weapons work as normal.

Event ends February 17 between 1700 and 1730 New York Time.
