Highlighting the March 3333 Double Rainbow
Another event had been announced, a Double Rainbow this time.
While it wasn't as bad as a Single Rainbow, unlimited or weapon type I was still not what you would say in the top tier.
This was compounded by the fact I would compete on K2, where the regular crowd would have 20-80 higher levels than me, corresponding into bigger formations, and more developed Mechs having armor and weapons my force couldn't compete with.
In addition there had been a reshuffling in the command structure of my clan, and I was running like a headless chicken trying to figure out what should be done and how it should be done. Adding in the meetings, conferences and paperwork, I doubted I could be counted on for any kind of success.
But I signed up, and went back to the chaos in camp. I made a few return trips to the mountain, but any tries to advance in position was firmly rebuked by those above me.
As the scramble neared, another conference I had forgotten about came up, and when it finally was over the event had ended and the winners this time had been:
- Div 1 222+ (31 Commanders): Fabio Favaro, Warlock (1s)
- Div 2 -221 (18 Commanders): Randy Taylor, Omegas Legacy (8m,4s)
- Div 3 -163 (31 Commanders): KiloToneRecoil, Northwind Dragons (6h,28m)
- Div 4 -119 (37 Commanders): Jason Pedracini, Northwind Dragons (4h,4m)
- Div 5 -99 (32 Commanders): David Sifford, Steampunk Dragons (6h,17m)
- Div 6 -78 (29 Commanders): Blackblade, Steampunk Dragons (2h,54m)
- Div 7 -63 (29 Commanders): Rathar Foehammer, Guardians of Bunny (8m,57s)
- Div 8 -46 (17 Commanders): Naehan Montales, M.P.A. "Elite" (1d,8h)
- Div 9 -32 (18 Commanders): Yodayoda Woods, clown clan (1d,17h)
- Div 10 -23 (28 Commanders): Elijah Woods, clown clan (1d,12h)
- Div 11 -16 (8 Commanders): Van Rudolph, ButthurtMonkeyHunters (13h,57m)
- Div 12 -13 (19 Commanders): Thought, Seal Drivers (1d,1h)
Total Contestants: 297, Total medals claimed: 173 (of 180 possible)
While the crowd who signed up for the competition was big, it was still fifty-two fewer than in the preceding King Chrono. As in that event, we had a narrow entrance to K11 (only special invitees and those who had licences in the 14-16 range were allowed in) and there weren't enough who qualified to enter. I blame the seven unclaimed Bronzes mostly on that.
Fighting was hard and furious, - at least on Mount Olympus. A total of three Golds changed hands the last nine minutes, one the last second.
The other nine Golds were held for more than two hours, four of them for more than a day.
But as mentioned, the fighting seemed mostly to be on Mount Olympus, as witnessed by the number of lesser medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event:
.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....1 of 4.........2 of 10
Div 2 ....2 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 3 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 4 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 5 ....3 of 4.........8 of 10
Div 6 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 7 ....3 of 4.........7 of 10
Div 8 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 9 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 10 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 11 ..4 of 4.........3 of 3
Div 12 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10
As can bee seen, there were eight Mountains where not even a single successful attack was launched during the scramble. While Mount Olympus was a flurry of activity where only three Commanders managed to hold onto the medals for at least an half-hour, on the other three mountains that had successful action, only a total of four (of 12) Silvers and five (of 30) Bronzes changed hands. The total number, including the Gold Medals is 11, less than what changed hands on Mount Olympus alone.
There were no unaligned winners this time, neither was there any repeat winners. But we had THREE clans who brought home double Gold; Northwind Dragons from K3 and K4, Steampunk Dragons from K5 and K6 and clown clan who secured theirs at K9 and K10.
Upcoming event: Red Ant Blitz.
This event mainly features the Red Ants. In addition to the Ants you are allowed to bring up to two non-ants, provided they are either Anzu or Warhorse. Any Mechs heavier than 15 tons, and all but two non-ants will be disqualified from the fighting.
Equipment and weapons work as usual.
Event ends March 15 between 2200 and 2230 New York Time
Any fresh winners can try to get in touch to tell their story, the first to grab hold of me before the report is finished might get a few Niodes for sharing their thoughts.
