Highlighting the October 3332 Point Mech Panic
Another climb was coming up.
Like the one in July it was a Point Mech event, and some clueless gamblers who just looked at the winners from that event might actually be betting on me this time.
I had a feeling they would be disappointed. The regular entrants had licences at least 49 higher than mine, and there were a half-dozen whose licences were at least 100 higher than what I had.
But I entered anyway. Pointmech is an event where the RNG gods might smile at you despite a big disparity in weapons and armor.
There was of course the battle against the BSLR to conduct, and after that one sided slaughter it was necessary to do some frantic rescues. But at t-2 hours the worst was cleared and I started to prepare for a jaunt to the mountain.
That was when my CO called me into the secure room. It is totally shielded, no communication can get out or in, and all electronic devices are nullified in there.
He pointed at a chair by the table, and when I was seated he told me it was a small test of my knowledge of the Star League Regulations coming up.
All I had to do was to write them all by hand. When I was finished I could press the button to be let out, but I had better have it done perfectly and legible by then.
I swallowed, but accepted my fate. The 200 page document would take me days to finish, so my Mech would just languish on the mountain.
Later, after I got out, I studied some footage of the fighting and found that the winners had been:
- Div 1 262+ (20 Commanders): German Jaramillo, Leviathan (Fext)(<1s)
- Div 2 -261 (20 Commanders): Holy-Damm, Death`s C. (Boreas)(39s)
- Div 3 -191 (17 Commanders): Geaorge Warren, T.B. BlackWatch (Fext)(4m,32s)
- Div 4 -142 (34 Commanders): Leopold Hackenbush, Death`s C. (Fext)(10s)
- Div 5 -116 (47 Commanders): Brian Vaughan, S.Dragons (Boreas)(4s)
- Div 6 -92 (40 Commanders): Glenn Forgames, M&L Blood W. (Boreas)(14s)
- Div 7 -73 (35 Commanders): John Ringo, S. Dragons (Dreadnought)(5m,36s)
- Div 8 -56 (37 Commanders): Msteven Salo, Behemoth (Megazome)(3m,40s)
- Div 9 -38 (14 Commanders): Mark Elgie, Bounty Hunters (Inferno)(42m,53s)
- Div 10 -29 (18 Commanders): Arikel, JC`s Rowdy B. (Dreadnought)(11h,33m)
- Div 11 -19 (13 Commanders): DZHowes, Punishers Guild (Buccaneer)(1h,10m)
- Div 12 -13 (11 Commanders): BatManBW, Punishers Guild (Orcus)(7h,25m)
Total Contestants: 306, Total medals claimed: 173 (of 180 possible)
Participation dropped by 32 compared to the frontline, and there were too few claimants on K9, K11 and K12 to award all the Bronzes, a total of seven of them were sent for resmelting. The spread were pretty uneven as well, both K5 and K6 had more contestants each than the aforementioned tops.
The struggle for Golds were pretty hard this time. The eight highest of them changed hands at least once during the last half-hour, five of them the last minute. Two of the four lowest were held for more than two hours.
The most winning Mech model this time was a split honor. Both the Fext and the Boreas secured their pilots three Golds. The only other multiple Gold winning Mech was the Dreadnought (2). No Crystal Mechs made the cut this time.
Curiously enough, the top who had the most active fighting this time wasn't Mount Olympus. K4 and K5 was the most active tops, but as all top medals on K4 got new holders the last minute, it get the status of most active top this round.
Take a closer look at the number of lesser medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event:
.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....2 of 4.........5 of 10
Div 2 ....0 of 4.........7 of 10
Div 3 ....1 of 4.........8 of 10
Div 4 ....0 of 4.........4 of 10
Div 5 ....0 of 4.........4 of 10
Div 6 ....1 of 4.........6 of 10
Div 7 ....3 of 4.........9 of 10
Div 8 ....3 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 9 ....4 of 4.........9 of 9
Div 10 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 11 ..4 of 4.........8 of 8
Div 12 ..2 of 4.........5 of 6
Only on K1, K2, K4, K5 and K6 did more than half the medals change hands, and on K9, K10 and K11 no successful attacks were launched.
Three clans managed to secure double Gold in this climb: Death`s Collectors on K2 and K4. Steampunk Dragons on K5 and K7. And Punishers Guild on K11 and K12. There were neither unaligned winners nor repeat winners this time
Upcoming event: iMountain
We have a split event again, and wonders happen, it is split sensibly again.
On K12 it is a max 30ton event, and while it is so on the other mountains as well, on them you are only allowed to bring up to two non-iMechs. My personal recommendation for the additional Mechs are Novums, but Commissar, Banshee, Trooper, Nerio and Axe Bot should also do well.
Event ends March 2 between 1600 and 1630 New York Time.
