Highlighting the August 3334 Triple Rainbow
Another event was coming up. A familiar one this time, but not my favorite.
A triple rainbow is a pretty hard place to excel when you have to employ more than a quarter heavies, and the opposition is mostly pure BFM.
But I gathered my men and we set out for the mountain (K3 this time). The usual hassle at the entry gates took some time, but we were finally let in.
I made a wager with some of my men that we could surely claim the top, and we did easily. That was mostly because we were in correct formation and the opposition hadn't gotten around to that yet.
I had to return to the compound and paper pushing while my men could enjoy the view and fresh air. They promised to take notes and make me some footage.
It was a while later an emergency call got my attention. Overwhelmingly strong opponents had shown up in numbers, and my crew were now out on the plains.
I returned to have a look at the situation. The crew was milling around, and I heard whispers of "Is he going to sit there looking at reports all day?" and "Why are we still here?"
I paid them no head. I was looking through the reports and footage that had been taken, but obviously not studied. After some diligent examination, I rose and shouted "Fall in, we have an Assault to make"
The attack went in our favor, and having secured a spot on the foothills, I returned to the never ending drudgery of administration and report writing.
I felt asleep at my desk, and woke up as the crew carried the trophy into the office. After a couple strong cups of tea, I surveyed the notes and footage and discovered the winners this time had been:
- Div 1 247+ (24 Commanders): Fabio Favaro, Warlock (3m,1s)
- Div 2 -246 (16 Commanders): John T Mainer, Spirit of Bunny (1d,7h)
- Div 3 -180 (20 Commanders): Chris Zimmer, Northwind Dragons (2d,5h)
- Div 4 -139 (44 Commanders): Michael Beagle, Death`s Collector`s (6m,56s)
- Div 5 -109 (28 Commanders): Spike Shepard, B.S.L.R. (1d,23h)
- Div 6 -91 (36 Commanders): Tom J Fong Jr. Stempunk Dragons (3h,7m)
- Div 7 -70 (45 Commanders): Rodney Skilton, Emerald Dragons (1h,53m)
- Div 8 -55 (38 Commanders): Leann Robb, Heroes Ranger Raccoons (1h,27m)
- Div 9 -41 (13 Commanders): KiloTone Recoil, JC`s Rowdy Bunch (1d,18h)

- Div 11 -24 (19 Commanders): Elijah Woods, madcat (2d,17h)
- Div 12 -18 (31 Commanders): Elmer Fudd, Skull Squadron (41s)
Total Contestants: 335, Total medals claimed: 178 (of 180 possible)
The number of Commanders who attended this climb was 38 higher than the number who enrolled in the SelfSame. Due to a somewhat narrow entry onto K9, two Bronzes went unclaimed and was sent for resmelting.
I don't know if it was the time of the ending, or the superior feat of arms by those who held the tops that caused it. But while 3 Golds changed hands during the scramble, one of them in the last minute, five of the seven Golds who was held for more than two hours were held for more than a day. In fact two of them were held for more than two days. And it was the same almost all over as witnessed by the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event:
.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....0 of 4.........5 of 10
Div 2 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 3 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 4 ....2 of 4.........9 of 10
Div 5 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 6 ....1 of 4.........9 of 10
Div 7 ....4 of 4.........8 of 10
Div 8 ....4 of 4.........8 of 10
Div 9 ....4 of 4.........8 of 8
Div 10 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 11 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 12 ..3 of 4.......10 of 10
Only 24 medals in total changed hands, 10 of them on Mount Olympus. On half of the Mountains not even one successful medal attack was launched.
This was another of the events where no clan managed to get more than one Gold. There were no unaligned winners, and none managed to repeat the golden performance of the SelfSame either.
Upcoming event: Progressive Pileup Chrono.
All right. This is a Chrono, so first thing to do is to join up immediately. The earlier you join the more rounds you will get points for. For those not familiar with Chronos, here is a short description. In a Chrono placement (and Medals) are determined on how many points you score during the event. Points are scored by the placement you have when the inspectors take a snapshot. the higher up the mountain, the more points. At the end of the climb the points are totalled, and ranking is determined by who have the most.
It is also a progressive pileup. From the first (rightmost) line only the top Mech will be let into the fight. For each line leftward one more Mech will be allowed to fight (two topmost, three topmost etc) If you have less than the allowed Mechs in a line, the whole line will fight, but you don't get to transfer the fighting slots to another line.
Equipment and weapons work as normal
Event ends April 29 between 1000 and 1030 New York Time
Any fresh winners can try to get in touch to tell their story, the first to grab hold of me before the report is finished might get a few Niodes for sharing their thoughts.
