September 3335 - King Chrono

Highlighting the September 3335 King Chrono
Star League was back in our compound.

We had lots to celebrate. We had played a part in thwarting the Unification-Yomi incursion, but we had also gotten our long lost member, Tony Hoogheem, back after a decade of undercover investigations.

That both he and Jorge had recently brought home top prizes from the climbs were icing on the cake.

Both of the two aforementioned are vivid fans of an Old Earth sport called football. For those not familiar, a short overview:
Two teams of 11 run around on a field, kicking a leather ball. Their purpose is to get said ball into a small enclosure on the other teams half of the field.

The team who manages to do so most times during two bouts of 45 minutes is declared the winners. Each team have uniforms of similar colors, (each team different colors). In addition there are some overseers out on the field whose duty is to make sure the game is conducted in good sportsmanship.

Of course the two of them decided during the festivities to make up a team each and play the sport.

Some poor sods were drafted as overseers, and given a five minute crash-course in the rules. Others drew straws to find out what team they were on.

I wont tell what team I ended up on, or what the score ended at. Firstly because the teams were unimportant, secondly because about ten minutes into the game I became the victim of a hard tackle.

My left shin broke clean off, and orderlies carried me to the infirmary.
There it was set, I got a cast, -and were left alone. The orderlies wanted back to watch the game, and as it was later proved, the party.

If you wonder what this tale have to do with the recent climb, here is the sad truth. I was left and forgotten. Since I had been in the game my communicator was left in the wardrobe.
So the sign up came, the climb started, -and ended.

Finally some come back from the party and found me.
Apologizes all around, and some even had recorded much of the climb, so I could look at it and determine that this time the winners had been:
  • Div 1 245+ (28 Commanders): Dexter Berry, Warlock (+14290)
  • Div 2 -244 (13 Commanders): Bing Paculan, T.I.o.M.T. (+24900)
  • Div 3 -182 (24 Commanders): Joshua Eifort, Northwind Dragons (+3930)
  • Div 4 -135 (31 Commanders): roward, B.S.L.R. (+22740)
  • Div 5 -104 (29 Commanders): Scott Abbot, Northwind Dragons (+24800)
  • Div 6 -86 (36 Commanders): Chris Page, Death`s Disturbed Asylum (+24110)
  • Div 7 -64 (24 Commanders): Brian Wilson, Smurf War Patrol (+8080)
  • Div 8 -47 (16 Commanders): Jerry Jones, Emerald Dragons (+20780)
  • Div 9 -37 (18 Commanders): Pat Kash, Karma (+5790)
  • Div 10 -22 (42 Commanders): Mark Stevensalo, Behemoth (+10600)
  • Div 11 -19 (46 Commanders): growol, Academy (+9660)
  • Div 12 -8 (44 Commanders): Dancuta Ionan Maximillian (+15300)

Total Contestants: 351, Total medals claimed: 178 (of 180 possible)

This event had plenty of time to sign up, it was unlimited and a Chrono. Don't know which of these was what Commanders liked most, but compared to the Daemon event we had 73 more this time. The only top where Medals was unclaimed was K2, I suspect the fame factor was the reason.

In a fairly long Chrono climb like this, the best tend to get a large lead on the others. Most tops were decided a long time before the light flashed. No winner had less than 2500 on the runner-up and eight winners had a margin of more than 10 000.

Highest score overall was 112 500. That is what you get when you take the top and stay there for 90 score rounds. Four Commanders reached that number; Bing Paculan on K2, roward on K4, Jerry Jones on K8 and Dancuta Ionan Maximillian on K12. Highest margin of win was on K2 where Bing Paculan had a whooping 24 900 on the runner up. Lowest score to get a medal was also on K2, a mere 1200 was was needed.

Further downward the margins between the medal tiers in this event was:

.........Silver to Bronze...Bronze to Nothing

Div 1 ......1690...…......….2360
Div 2 ......2920......………..N/A
Div 3 ......5510...…......….1260
Div 4 ......1640...…......…...600
Div 5 ......7400...…......…...140
Div 6 ......6100...…......….1140
Div 7 ......5020...…......…...180
Div 8 ......5340...…......….1280
Div 9 ....11700...…......….5100
Div 10 ….2260...…......….3020
Div 11 ….6440...…......…...120
Div 12 ….8900...…...…….1640

On K4, K5, K7 and K11 the difference between the last medal grabber and those who got nothing was measured in the hundreds. Which shows the importance of showing up early and get some serious scores.

Best clan this time was Northwind Dragons. They were the only clan to secure a double Gold, on K3 and K5. The only Commander to follow up last events win was growol on K11. Unaligned Dancuta Ionan Maximillian secured his win on K12.

Dancuta Ionan Maximillian is another of the Bright New stars among the junior Commanders. Deciding to do his best, in the first event he grabbed the Gold in front of opponents who had up towards almost three times his Level. So far he haven't spent any of his skill points. At Level 3 he can use the Metis base who have room for 5 Mechs, and the highest tonnage he can safely pilot is 45 Tons.

Now that the factions are once more stood down, clan leaders should contact him to secure his services.

Upcoming event: Troopers

Here we again have a split event. It is an tonnage restricted event, the highest tonnage allowed for Mechs are 30 ton. In addition, for all except those who compete on K12, you are supposed to use mostly Troopers.

Only two non-Troopers will be allowed to fight on K1-K11. If you have Novums, that is the recommended Mech. Commissar, Banshee, Nerio and Axebot will also do a decent job, in addition to the iMech.

Equipment and weapons work as normal.

Event ends May 29 between 1500 and 1530 New York Time.

Any fresh winners can try to get in touch to tell their story, the first to grab hold of me before the report is finished might get a few Niodes for sharing their thoughts.
