Highlighting the October 3336 Holmes Havoc
Another event was coming up, and again it was a Mech Type one, -Holmes this time.
When it comes to the Mech Type events, there are those that allow you to bring some additional Mechs, and those that don't. In this event one could bring up to two non-Holmes Mechs, and at that tonnage (up to 35 tons) the best Mech is in my mind the Novum.
Of course, to do well in those events you do need some Mechs of the preferred type, preferably a full formation of fully developed Mechs.
As 35 tons isn't a War specialty, many have less than that, but I had a full formation from back when.
Dusting off the cobwebs and refitting them took quite a bit of time, they had been inactive for decades, but finally I felt ready to get to the mountain.
At the time I showed up many had still not gotten their Holmes out of mothball, so claiming the top wasn't really hard. The hard part would be as the scramble neared.
I was back at the mountain at t-4 minutes. My formation had been displaced to the top slope and a glance at the opposition was required.
Most seemed to have legal formations, but beside Yusuke Paul Okabayoshi from M&L Blood Woolves, Darryl Proctor from Black Star Thundering Herd and Colin Toenjes from Heroes I had serious tonnage on all.
Toenjes held the top, and his formation actually had a few tons on me. Probing showed he had a full formation, but 1 Zadoc and one Novum as extras, not two Novums like me.
He also had learned some fancy moves lately and had a full complement of HG drones, while my drone capacity was underutilized.
But one does what one have to, and I had to beat him to claim the top. It took half a dozen tries, and I worried that even a full complement of supers would be too few to withstand a lenghty dogfight.
As it turned out, I held on to the top for about 15 minutes before Toenjes woke to the fact and displaced me. I managed to reclaim the top after several tries, but he came back and dethroned me again.
Quaffing supers as they would be out of fashion soon I rallied my troops again and again, and retook the top. He returned the compliment and I was about ready to give up. But Who knew, perhaps he had less supers than me?
I don't know if that was the case, but I had retaken the top and prepared for his onslaught as the light flashed and it was over. I had once again managed to get me a new Nephilax.

Total Contestants: 207, Total medals claimed: 161 (of 180 possible)
Participation fell by 94 compared to the Point Mech event. Whether it was from lack of suitable Mechs, narrow entries or the ongoing raid is unknown, probably a combination.
The spread was uneven this time as well, and a total of 19 Bronzes from five tops were sent for resmelting.
Three golds changed hands the last half-hour, one of them the last minute. Six Golds were held for more than two hours. Again the fighting intensity varied greatly, just look at the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event:

On Mount Olympus, K3 and K4 more than half the Medals changed hands, on half of the tops there wasn't even one successful medal attack.
The only clan to claim multiple Golds this time was the Night Hammers. Three Golds (from K8, K9 and K10) was their booty this time. We had two unaligned winners this time; Rob Chelgren on K11 and Ken KC Davidson on K12.
Rob Chelgren was also the sole repeat winner.
Rob Chelgren is a newcomer in the KotM fights, but he sure seem to know what he is doing.The recent Front Line was the first time we have recorded his prowess, and wow.
Two events joined and two Golds claimed.
Clan leaders can probably do much worse than signing up this top scorer.
At level 14 he is probably using the Egeria base having room for 9 Mechs in the formation. The heaviest Mech he can purchase is the Orcus, but he can pilot up to 45 tonners. So far he have spent some skill on increasing the energy Budget, in addition to boosting Laser, Missile and Cannon damage.
Upcoming event: Triple Rainbow Chrono.
This is a rainbow event. A Commander can bring up to 3 Mechs of each model to the fight this time. OK, actually he can bring as many he wants, but only 3 of each model is allowed to fight, the rest will exist as empty Spaces in the formation.
In addition it is a Chrono. To win one have to get more points than the opponents, so joining early and keeping a high placement during most of the climb is highly recommended.
Equipment and weapons work as normal.
Event ends between 1700 and 1730 July 2 New York Time.
Fresh winners who manage to get hold of me and tell their side of the story before the report is written might get some Niodes for their trouble.
