February 3338 - Quadruple Rainbow

Highlighting the February 3338 Quadruple Rainbow

Just before the birthday festivities were to commence the gaming authorities decided to launch another event.

Coming really close on the heels of the preceding one, and being really short to boot, it caught many, if not most, Commanders flat-footed, or should I say asleep.

I was one of them myself. Luckily my team mate Able Hunter was in the thick of the action and graciously let me have copies of his gun camera recording after I had congratulated him on his win.

That footage let me figure out the winners this time had been:

[Highest leveled Commander in Division]
  • Div 1 [358] (14 Commanders): Dexter Berry, Warlock (2h,26m)
  • Div 2 [258] (7 Commanders): James Waddington, T.B. BlackWatch (1h,15m)
  • Div 3 [172] (7 Commanders): Able Hunter, Star League (11m,27s)
  • Div 4 [139] (12 Commanders): Darryl Proctor, Black Star Apocalypse (47s)
  • Div 5 [103] (10 Commanders): Charles Zimbelman (42m,46s)
  • Div 6 [84] (10 Commanders): Rodney Skilton, Emerald Dragons (<1s)
  • Div 7 [65] (6 Commanders): Michael Moeykens, Emerald Dragons (1h,35m)
  • Div 8 [43] (4 Commanders): Mark Stevensalo, Behemoth (49m,32s)
  • Div 9 [36] (10 Commanders): BigJohnStewart, Punishers Guild (1h,10m)
  • Div 10 [23] (6 Commanders): Clayton Retallack, Punishers Guid (1h,33m)
  • Div 11 [15] (4 Commanders): Robert Tabaka (2h,27m)
  • Div 12 [7] (3 Commanders): Seh Nix (2h,37m)

Total Contestants: 93, Total medals claimed: 93 (of 180 possible)

You know the old adage about good news, bad news.
Good news first. All contestants got a medal.
Bad news: 138 fewer contestants showed up, resulting in four Silvers and eighty-three Bronzes being returned for resmelting.

Three Golds changed hands the last half-hour, one of them the last possible moment. Three other Golds were held for more than two hours.

In general, fighting seemed subdued here, as witnessed by the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event:

.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....4 of 4.........9 of 9
Div 2 ....3 of 4.........1 of 2
Div 3 ....2 of 4.........1 of 2
Div 4 ....2 of 4.........4 of 7
Div 5 ....4 of 4.........4 of 5
Div 6 ....2 of 4.........3 of 5
Div 7 ....3 of 4.........0 of 1
Div 8 ....0 of 3......…...N/A
Div 9 ....4 of 4.........5 of 5
Div 10 ..4 of 4.........0 of 1
Div 11 ..3 of 3......…...N/A
Div 12 ..2 of 2......…...N/A

Admittedly, we had some tops where the action was pretty brisk. K8,K6,K4 and K3 all saw at least half the Medals change hands. On the other hand, four tops, including Mount Olympus, had no successful attacks.

Both Emerald Dragons (K6 + K7) and Punishers Guild (K9 + K10) got double Gold this time. We also had a duo of unaligned winners; Robert Tabaka on K11 and Seh Nix on K12. The only Unlimited winner to manage a follow up win this time was Punisher`s Guild`s Clayton Retallack.

Clayton Retallack first showed up in the September `37 progressive pileup, which he won. Since then he have competed in a total of eight events, and won four of them. At level 18 he operates out of the 9 Mech base Egeria.
He have so far mainly concentrated on increasing his energy Budget, and can safely pilot 50 ton Mechs.
