Highlighting the October 3338 Holmes Havoc Chrono
It was a new event, and I had looked forward to it. In the last event I had been busy toward the end to even join up, here it would hopefully be better.
But it wasn't.
My appointments held me for a long time, and when I finally could ask what the event was I was told it was, except on the two lowest tops where it was unlimited, a Holmes only event.
All other Mechs would be disregarded. But it it was already halfway done.
Not that big a problem you might think, but this was a Chrono and I was supposed to compete against opponents having additional and more advanced Mechs than me.
I decided to fore go this event as well, and got some friends to promise to get me some footage, at least enough to determine that the winners had been:
- Div 1 274+ (23 Commanders): Shawn Wretham, Warlock (+8350)
- Div 2 -273 (11 Commanders): Joe Kump, Spirit of Bunny (+4890)
- Div 3 -194 (19 Commanders): Chong Chin, Heroes (+3080)
- Div 4 -149 (25 Commanders): Darryl Proctor, Black Star Acopalypse (+20610)
- Div 5 -113 (27 Commanders): Richard M Howes, Heroes Shadow Brigade (+27680)
- Div 6 -86 (14 Commanders): Jack Wade, Sabbatical (+16150)
- Div 7 -71 (25 Commanders): Paul Olenen, Behemoth (+16510)
- Div 8 -50 (19 Commanders): Baron Fish, T.B. 1st K. Highlanders (+15300)
- Div 9 -38 (19 Commanders): Dizzy Cat, Borg (+12610)
- Div 10 -28 (19 Commanders): Nairb Boloco (+3090)
- Div 11 -19 (14 Commanders): Benjamin Johnson (+9760)
- Div 12 -13 (27 Commanders): Richard Knight, MAGA (+27350)
2+7(G)+8(1S)+7(2S)+2+9(2S)+6+10(G,1S)+5(1S)+13(4S)= On the ten tops where it was supposed to be nothing but Holmes, we had two Golds, eleven Silvers and fifty-eight Bronzes awarded to Commanders who at the end had at least point Mechs who weren't Holmes.
Total Contestants: 242, Total medals claimed: 175 (of 180 possible)
We got a small influx of Commanders compared to the recent Quadruple Rainbow, 4 more to be exact. But the spread was different this time, and a total of five Bronzes from 3 different tops was sent back for resmelting.
Highest scorer overall was Richard M Howes from Heroes Shadow Brigade he collected 120 960 points. He also had the highest margin to the runner up, 27 680 points.
Lowest score needed to get a medal was on K11 where 1760 sufficed to get a Bronze.
In a fairly long event like this one, expectations is the winners will have big margins. That was not what we got here. While 3 Gold winners had a margin of more than 20 000, 3 others won by less than 5000.
Even if it was somewhat close on the tops, it was pretty divided further down on the scoreboards. Just look at the difference between medal tiers in this event:
........Silver to Bronze...Bronze to nothing
Div 1 ....12950...…......….2580
Div 2 ......8300...…......…...N/A
Div 3 ....12510...…......….4320
Div 4 ......4570...…......….2580
Div 5 ....17200...…......….1060
Div 6 ......4640...…......…...N/A
Div 7 ....10360...…......….1160
Div 8 ....10810...…......….3180
Div 9 ......5020...…......….1580
Div 10 ….2220...……..….2840
Div 11 ..11030...……...…...N/A
Div 12 ..16060...……...….1795
Most of the Silvers were really secure, and so were many of the Bronzes as well.
None of the clans managed to get more than one Gold each.
The two unaligned winners; Nairb Boloco on K10 and Benjamin Johnson on K11 might have disrupted the plans of some clans.
None of last events winners managed a follow up triumph.
Upcoming event: Shocklite Surge
This is again a split event. For those on K12 it is a regular 20 ton max event where any Mech up to and including 20 tons is allowed. For those on all the other tops it is more restricted. All but two of the Mechs used must be Shocklites (and the two others can not be heavier than 20 tons either). Commissars and Axe Bots will be my advice here as the best support Mechs.
Event ends August 31 between 1730 and 1800 New York Time.
