Highlighting the May 3331 King Chrono
Another Climb was announced, and I wondered if the craftsmen had mistakenly sent out copies of the March event, two King Chronos and only one other event between them?
But that was the event announced, so I dragged my sleepy crew out of the barracks and herded them towards K3.
There they promptly fell asleep, and despite me wanting to kick them around the mountain, I knew this was an endurance race, and the real test would be on the last day.
Returning to the compound to get as much paperwork as possible done during the buildup, I only had time for the occasional visit, and every time I showed up, my crew had been banished to the plains.
With the notes they had taken, maneuvering back to the lower slopes wasn't hard, but it seemed the opponents chased them back to the plains as soon as my back was turned, and I couldn't direct offensive operations anymore.
As the last day arrived, we managed to hold onto the position on the lower slopes a bit longer, and the points accumulated. Not enough to get a Silver, but we got a solid Bronze in the biggest crowd. Those who got the most Points this time around were:
- Div 1 201+ (30 Commanders): Fabio Favaro, Warlock (+8690)
- Div 2 -200 (21 Commanders): Travis Retherford, B.S.L.R. (+25040)
- Div 3 -144 (48 Commanders): KiloToneRecoil, Northwind Dragons (+5280)
- Div 4 -107 (24 Commanders): Brian Vaughan, Steampunk Dragons (+40970)
- Div 5 -89 (24 Commanders): Leeboy Wegenast, T.B. 1st K.H. (+20670)
- Div 6 -75 (29 Commanders): James Brose, Steampunk Dragons (+14200)
- Div 7 -60 (26 Commanders): Neil Roberts, Dinochrome Brigade (+14600)
- Div 8 -47 (33 Commanders): Allen Hines, Natus (+26710)
- Div 9 -34 (16 Commanders): Robert Dodd, UNDERWORLD (+11870)
- Div 10 -24 (11 Commanders): Gabriel Goldsmith, UNDERWORLD (+370)
- Div 11 -21 (14 Commanders): Barnry Miller, BMH (+13140)
- Div 12 -16 (13 Commanders): StepinDogPoo, Senioes Mech (+8080)
Total Contestants: 289, Total Medals 173 (of 180 possible)
From the face of it, it seem long, unlimited Chronos is the thing. Participation rose by 127 compared to the Single Rainbow. While it was an uneven spread, we had more more contestants on K3 than on K10-K12 put together, this time no Silvers and "only" seven Bronzes went unclaimed and were sent back for resmelting.
In a long Chrono like this, the margins between the winners and the runner-ups tend to be big, but not always.
While the highest margin was a whooping 40970 point on K4 (by Brian Vaughan), on K10 the margin was only 370.
Showing up as soon as possible in the Chronos will get you some points, getting into correct formation should also be a priority, but can wait until the registration is done.
There were varying gaps between the Medal classes in this event, from overwhelming to pretty Close, as seen below.
Point margin between the medals in this event:
..........Silver-Bronze......Bronze-nothing
- Div 1 ......6370...............7880
- Div 2 ....28860...............1680
- Div 3 ....11310...............3130
- Div 4 ......8470...............5720
- Div 5 ......4780.............11120
- Div 6 ......6880.................690
- Div 7 ......6610...............1780
- Div 8 ....10150...............3220
- Div 9 ......5540.............25950
- Div 10 ..14850.................N/A
- Div 11 ....9270.................N/A
- Div 12 ..28970.................N/A
Highest scorer in this event was again Brian Vaughan. His score of 171 250 was top position in 137 score rounds.
We had two clans who secured double Gold this time; Steampunk Dragons on K4 + K6 and UNDERWORLD who dominated K9 + K10.
There were no unaligned winners this time, and neither was there repeat winners.
Upcoming event: Oggunners.
Or rather, it is a split event. For those assigned to K1-K6 it is an Oggunner event where all but two of the Mechs brought must be Ogguners, the two remaining Mechs might be of any model up to 60 tons (including Ogguners)
For those headed to K7-K12 it is a max tonnage event. you might use any number of Mechs of each model, -as long as none of them weigh more than 60 tons.
Equipment and weapons work as normal.
Event ends January 17 between 2000 and 2030 New York Time
