Highlighting the December 3331 Laser Blast
As a Commander there are a lot of things you must be on top of.
Sometimes you must get involved and get your hands dirty, but the main reason you are the Commander is to have the overview.
While it never hurts to do a share of the work, the Cardinal sin for a leader is to get so engulfed in one detail that the overview disappears from the mind, or at least some pesky little details.
That happened to me here. I was totally focused in Meta, and hadn't been back in the Mainverse for a while. When I returned to do a stint on the mountain the event had already ended.
So all I had to make the report was some canned footage and overheard comments from those who had been present. Some beers to loosen tongues and a few stories later I had at least a rudimentary grasp of what had happened. The winners this time was:
- Div 1 247+ (22 Commanders): Fabio Favaro, Warlock (1m,41s)
- Div 2 -246 (13 Commanders): Dan Ross, Death`s Collectors (14h,8m)
- Div 3 -189 (11 Commanders): Randy Taylor, Omegas Legacy (1h,50m)
- Div 4 -142 (29 Commanders): Michael Beagle, Death`s Brethren (6h,8m)
- Div 5 -116 (34 Commanders): Richard Kangas, B.S.L.R. (7m,53s)
- Div 6 -90 (26 Commanders): Sean McGan (2m,24s)
- Div 7 -72 (18 Commanders): Ironhawk79, Knights of Chaos (6h,10m)
- Div 8 -58 (22 Commanders): Finn Robb-Jorge, Death`s Acolytes (5h,16m)
- Div 9 -44 (18 Commanders): Estrella Starfire, Inactive Dragons (7h,54m)
- Div 10 -33 (8 Commanders): Map Chap, Underworld (8h,9m)
- Div 11 -24 (12 Commanders): Sandie Elgie, clown clan (15h,9m)
- Div 12 -17 (10 Commanders): BigJohnStewart, Area 88 (1h,24m)
Total Contestants: 223, Total Medals: 159 (of 180 possible)
Participation was reduced by 17 compared to the 35 Alive, and 5 fewer medals had been claimed. The dearth of Commanders were as usual lately on K 10, 11 and 12, but there were unclaimed Medals on K 2 and 3 as well. A total of twenty-one Bronzes were sent for resmelting after the award ceremony.
This event seem to have been very subdued. Three Gold medals changed hands during the last half-hour, while seven were held for more than two hours.
When it comes to the lesser prizes, the fighting for them were Close to non-existent as seen below.
Number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event:
.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....2 of 4.........9 of 10
Div 2 ....4 of 4.........8 of 8
Div 3 ....4 of 4.........6 of 6
Div 4 ....3 of 4.........9 of 10
Div 5 ....4 of 4.........9 of 10
Div 6 ....3 of 4.........8 of 10
Div 7 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 8 ....4 of 4.........9 of 10
Div 9 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 10 ..4 of 4.........3 of 3
Div 11 ..4 of 4.........7 of 7
Div 12 ..4 of 4.........5 of 5
I suspect more Commanders than me were busy in the Meta, but at least they had the good sense to join up for the Climb before they went there.
On seven of the mountains not a single medal changed hands during the scramble. The total of medals who got new owners were only 13 this time.
We had an unaligned winner this time; Sean McGan claimed the top prize on K6, his 11th Nephilax so far. Enterprising Clan leaders should consider him as a reinforcement worth having.
There were no repeat winners, and no clan got more than one gold this time.
Upcoming event: Ten Red Tons Chrono
This event celebrates the venerable Red Ant Mech, the first Mech created.
To make sure it gets all the attention, no other Mechs are allowed to fight in this event. You are of course free to bring 15 tonners or bigger, but they will only exist as gaping holes in the formation when the fighting start, and reduce the odds of you getting a prize.
In addition, it is a Chrono, so joining up soonest and being high on the tops when the snapshots is taken is highly recommended. Remember: In a Chrono it is the Points scored total, not the placement as the light flashes that determines the Medals.
Equipment and weapons work as normal.
Event ends February 5 between 2100 and 2130 New York Time.
