Highlighting the January 3332 Ten Red Tons Chrono
This time it was a Mech specific Chrono, Red Ants only allowed.
I wanted to enter, but after looking over the specifics I regretfully decided not to.
The Main reasons was: It would run parallel to the Anzu Run in Meta where I had some slim hope of securing a Cavalier, it was a Chrono and I had meetings and conferences to attend, so I most of the time I wouldn't be there to order counterattacks, my formation was small and the fame factor on K2 was too high for my liking.
That is not to say I didn't make a few appearances to take some notes, and as the Meta shut down I had a relatively quiet meltdown in one of the view-restaurants looking at the fighting in the main.
While many fans will shout in joy, or scream in rage as their favorites is beaten or do the beating, my quiet rage and the way I broke off pieces from the glass table top made most start to throw nervous glances in my direction and keep the distance.
A bouncer was dispatched toward me, but a quiet word and a glimpse at my invitation and the casts I still carried made him back off.
The fighting lasted almost the full time, there might have been as much as 50 seconds left, and when the light flashed, those who had gathered most points were:

Total Contestants: 238, Total Medals: 147 (of 180 possible)
1+5+2(1S)+1S+3+1+7(1S)+5+5(1S)+4+1S+7(4S)= 9 Silvers and 33 Bronzes went to Commanders who at the end had overweight formations.
Despite an increase of 15 commanders who showed up compared to the Laser Blast, the brackets had changed quite a bit, so more medals were sent for resmelting than the last time. 1 Silver and 32 Bronzes from six different divisions met that fate.
In a Chrono it is important to join up early to have a shot at the best prizes. But if there are few contestants, you might get a medal even if you enter late. This time the 3 lowest scoring Bronze winners got 1080, 1080 and 520 points for being counted in 1, 1 and 2 snapshots.
The Gold fights was mostly decided hours before the end. The exception was Mount Olympus where in the end only 30 points was the difference between Gold and Silver.
There was pretty close running for many of the lesser medals as well, as evidenced by the scoreboard below:

Two of the Silvers and two of the Bronzes were decided by less than a 250 point difference, three other Bronzes by less than a thousand.
Talking of Points. The highest score (125 000) as well as the highest margin (39800) both went to Van Rudolph of ButthurtMonkeyHunters on K12. I think the 100 first place awards was a perfect score, him getting all the possible wins.
ButthurtMonkeyHunters claimed the victory on K10 as well, and was the only clan to bring home two Golds. There was no unaligned winners.
But we had two champions who shone even brighter than the rest:
Sandie Elgie of clown clan and Richard Kangas of Black Star Lycan Rangers.
Both of them managed, despite being kicked up not just one, but two mountains to repeat their Golden performance of the Laser Blast.
Upcoming event: Oggunners/60ton
This is again a split event. Maximum Mech tonnage allowed is 60 ton, but for those on K1-K6 there is an additional restriction: All but two Mechs must be Oggunners (the last two can be as well). Recommended extras:
- Novum, Fides, Cindron
- Warg, Namtar, Dread, Vizi, Nephilax
- Pyrophorus, Daemon, Luison, Buccaneer, Zadoc, Commissar
- Any other Mech below 60 ton
Equipment and weapons work as normal.
[I don't have a problem when an event is split because some cant field the featured Mech, but again the split and the allowed tonnage doesn't make sense.
The Oggun can be purchased when a Commander have gotten his licence to 24, here the regular entrants to K7-K9 have to have at least licences at 33, and as such are eligible to own Ogguns.
The second part, allowed Mech tonnage of up to 60 tons makes little sense. If you can't buy 50 tonners, why should you be allowed to use 60 tonners?
And even on K1-K6 it seem somewhat wrong. When an event is featuring a specific Mech, it shouldn't be overshadowed by heavier Mechs]
