October 3331 - Sixty

Highlighting the October 3331 Sixty

A new event were announced. This was an limited event, no Mechs heavier than 60 tons allowed. I spent some time checking and readying my mostly Namtar force, and set out for the mountain. There was some waiting list outside the entrance gate to K2. Some of the others looked arcane at me, the requirement to be allowed in was a piloting licence between 173 and 230, and my licence were nowhere near that. But I had a special invitation in my pocket, so I should be let in as soon as it was my turn.

While I waited, I looked at the prizes I could win, nothing I really needed, but... HEY!!!

The fame factor of even a Bronze was almost worth a seventh of a licence point for me. Bruno would kill me if I got anything here, and currently there were fewer contestants than prizes.
Not even the need to be hands-on for this report was enough to sway me. I turned away from the gate, parked outside the viewing lounge and went inside.

There I watched live footage from many angles of the admittedly overall tame event. When the light flashed those who held the tops were:
  • Div 1 231+ (27 Commanders): Fabio Favaro, Warlock (2h,21m)
  • Div 2 -230 (14 Commanders): Bob Schlomer, HF Mecha Pirates (1m,58s)
  • Div 3 -172 (23 Commanders): Joshua Bourne, Northwind Dragons (7m,58s)
  • Div 4 -123 (28 Commanders): John Thorson, Northwind Dragons (4m,45s)
  • Div 5 -103 (28 Commanders): Yusuke Paul Okabayashi, M&L B.W. (59m,30s)
  • Div 6 -84 (32 Commanders): Leeboy Wegenast, T.B. 1st K. H. (1d,13h)
  • Div 7 -63 (18 Commanders): John Ringo, Emerald Dragons (1d,13h)
  • Div 8 -50 (33 Commanders): Ann Kristin Hiller, today and tomorrow (4m,35s)
  • Div 9 -33 (16 Commanders): Sa Alice, UNDERWORLD (1h,7m)
  • Div 10 -22 (10 Commanders): Brick House (17m,32s)
  • Div 11 -19 (10 Commanders): Max Dixon, ButthurtMonkeyHunters (50m,52s)
  • Div 12 -13 (9 Commanders): Thought, Seal Drivers (1d,9h)

Total Contestants: 248, Total Medals: 163 (of 180 possible)

1+5+7+0+0+1+10+4+0+2(1S)+0+0= One Silver and twenty-nine Bronzes went to overweight Commanders this time.

Compared to the Fifty Chrono it was an increase in both Commanders present (9) and medals claimed (5). The brackets are still uneven, and both div 6 and 8 had more contestants each than the three lowest divisions put together. A total of 17 Bronzes were sent for resmelting this time

Five Golds were decided during the scramble, Three of them the last five minutes. Four were held for more than two hours, three for more than a day.

The action on the various tops seemed to vary from pretty brisk to almost non existing. My timepiece had the scramble last until the 29th minute, and here the number of lesser medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event was:

.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....3 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 2 ....3 of 4.........9 of 9
Div 3 ....3 of 4.........9 of 10
Div 4 ....1 of 4.........9 of 10
Div 5 ....4 of 4.........5 of 10
Div 6 ....4 of 4.........9 of 10
Div 7 ....1 of 4.........9 of 10
Div 8 ....1 of 4.........6 of 10
Div 9 ....2 of 4.........8 of 10
Div 10 ..1 of 4.........5 of 5
Div 11 ..4 of 4.........5 of 5
Div 12 ..4 of 4.........4 of 4

Two divisions where no medals changed hands; 11 and 12. Three were just the Gold changed hands; 1, 2 and 6. The most turbulent division this time was div 8 where only seven medals were held for the entire scramble (admittedly, only 6 in div 10, but that was out of a total of 10).

Best clan this time was Northwind Dragons who took double Gold on K3 and K4.
We had an unaligned winner; Brick House on K10. And Fabio Favaro repeated his Gold from the Fifty Chrono.

Upcoming event: Axe Attacks

It seem this Niode Mech type event is becoming a regular feature, we had one last October as well.
Here you are supposed to use Axe Bots, in addition to up to two other Mechs up to 25 tons. It should, for those who have them, be a no-brainier. The two additional Mechs should be Novums. If you don't have Novums, Commissars or Nerio should do decently, but any Mechs is better than none.

Equipment and weapons work as normal.

Event ends January 31 between 1400 and 1430 New York Time.
