Highlighting the July 3333 Point Mech Panic.
After the war, and during the raid, the craftsmen unveiled, to no big surprise, the point Mech event.
It is one of my favorite formats, and I joined up as soon as I could. After some jockeying for position I got my machine to the top foothill, in easy range of the top. But after telling my man to hold the spot and scribble notes, I returned to the clan to handle some administrative chores.
And got more chores piled on top.
Then there was the minor question of trying to hold back Scipio's hordes who had blood in their eyes and wanted to eradicate us.
In addition the custom service wanted a long talk, and short of opening a multi front combat, there was no way to avoid it.
The short of it was, my man on the mountain was left to hold the position, (wich he did admirably) but I was held up until the event was over. According to the notes and footage he took the winners this time had been:

Compared to the Frontline the number of Commanders who joined up rose by 24. The narrowness of K11 where only the special invitees who won the last four event on K12 and those who were level 14-17 could sign up probably explains the five unclaimed bronzes from K11.
The most winning, and in fact the only multiple-Gold-winning Mech this time was the Boreas who secured all the top three Gold medals.
The sole crystal Mech to gain a Gold was the Daemon Kyle Elmblade piloted on K11.
Usually in a Pointmech, the action is fast and furious, and few medals are held for long. This seemed to be the exception to that tradition. Admittedly, six Golds changed hands the last half-hour, three of them the last quarter-minute.
But three were held for more than two hours, and when it comes to the number of lesser medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event:

On Mount Olympus, K4 and K6 more than half the medals changed hands. The most furious fighting was on K6 this time, but despite it being a swirling fur ball, Richard Ward kept the top for more than an hour.
On the other side of the scale was K3, K8, K9, K10 and K11 where no successful attacks were launched.
Best clan (and the only to win double Gold) was Spirit of Bunny who took home the Golds from the top two Mountains. The sole repeat winner was unaligned Lito Fallu on K10. There were one more unaligned winner; Dwayne Joy on K12.
Dwayne Joy is a recent addition to the list of Commanders. His first appearance in the climbs was as late as the March `33 Double Rainbow where he secured a Bronze. This was his fifth climb, and the first Gold medal.
His current formation is probably the 9-Mech base Egeria. His current tonnage of 235 tons indicates few heavy Mechs won yet, and the use of skill points on weapons and energy is consistent with that.
Commanders who want to bolster their forces and replenish losses after the clan war and the raid can probably do much worse than signing him up.
Upcoming event: Daemon Deadline Chrono (split event)
As usual when we have a named Mech event, there is a split with slightly different rules between the higher mountaintops and the lower ones.
While no Mech above 50 tons are allowed to fight in this event, on K10, K11 and K12 that is the only restriction.
On the other tops, (K1-K9) the Daemon is the featured Mech, and only two
non-Daemons are allowed to fight (they still need to be at or below 50 ton)
Recommendations to what those two Mechs should be is Novum, Fides, Vizi or Nephilax.
Or you could just use an all Daemon force.
In addition it is a Chrono, so joining up early and getting high up on the mountains so you get early points is a good way to secure a medal.
Remember; in a Chrono it is the points scored during the whole climb that decides the ranking, not where you stand when the light flashes.
Equipment and weapons work as normal.
Event ends March 24 between 0500 and 0530 New York Time.
