December 3333 - Triple Rainbow Chrono

Highlighting the December 3333 Triple Rainbow Chrono
There was a new climb. Another Rainbow, but only triple this time. As it was a Chrono it ment early registry was a must if I should have any hope of some prize. There was still issues when I tried to get my formation through the gates, but finally I was let in.

After a good look at the competition the question was why I had bothered.
Except for the two other special invitees who "only" had 450 and 750 tons on me, the regulars had at least 1200 tons more than I had. Add in a level disparity of 60 to 120 and I was there as whipping boy.

I tried to get out of the plains, but all my efforts were in vain. Finally I gave up and just took notes. It seemed it was pretty much action all around, many were struggling hard to get medals. When it ended I had gotten the lowest score on my top, those who had the highest total scores this time were:

  • Div 1 265+ (22 Commanders): Fabio Favaro, Warlock (+8420)
  • Div 2 -264 (17 Commanders): Justin Verret, Leviathan (+23030)
  • Div 3 -193 (20 Commanders): Bing Paculan, T.I.o.M.T. (+21580)
  • Div 4 -140 (39 Commanders): Chris Zimmer, Northwind Dragons (+16450)
  • Div 5 -114 (40 Commanders): James Waddington, Northwind Dragons (+1350)
  • Div 6 -92 (43 Commanders): Joey Goldez, B.S.B. (+22610)
  • Div 7 -75 (40 Commanders): Nathan Justin Weiser, B.S.B (+1140)
  • Div 8 -53 (38 Commanders): Naehan Montales, M.P.A. "Elite" (+15470)
  • Div 9 -40 (11 Commanders): KiloTone Recoil, T.B. 1st K.H. (+25020)
  • Div 10 -30 (22 Commanders): Jon Gibas, Arctic Warfare (+4230)
  • Div 11 -22 (29 Commanders): DZHowes, Punishers Guild (+7210)
  • Div 12 -12 (10 Commanders): Jill Healer, Honeybees (+17590)

Total Contestants: 321, Total medals claimed: 171 (of 180 possible)

I dont know if it was the familiarity of a Triple Rainbow, that it was a Chrono or that it was plenty of time to sign up. But the attendance compared to the Quadriple Rainbow was almost doubled, an increase from 162 to 321.
There were two tops who had room for more contestants (K9 and K12) and a total of nine Bronzes from those tops were sent for resmelting.

Highest scorer this time was a tie between Justin Verret of the Leviathan and Naehan Montales from Mech Point Acadamy "Elite".
Both of them got 113 750 points, that is top placement for 91 straight rounds.
Highest margin of win went to KiloTone Recoil from The Brotherhood:
1st Kearney Highlanders. Slightly over 25k above the runner up.

When you have a pretty long Chrono like this, the winners are generally spotted a long time before the end. In this case it was closer than usual on some tops, K5 and K7 was won by margins of less than 1500 points. But the competition for some prize was hard further down on the slopes as well, the difference beween the medal tiers in this event was:

.........Silver to Bronze....Bronze to nothing
Div 1 ......5500...................960
Div 2 ........200...................120
Div 3 ......4180...................140
Div 4 ......8260.................6940
Div 5 ......8360...................235
Div 6 ......1230.................2020
Div 7 ........850...................115
Div 8 ......3960...................420
Div 9 ........380...................N/A
Div 10 ..13900.................6680
Div 11 ..21200...................660
Div 12 ........40...................N/A

This shows the importance of showing up early to get some start advantage over the competition.

Two clans got double Gold this time; Northwind Dragons took K4 and K5, while Black Star Bandits secured K6 and K7. There were no unaligned winners this time, but Fabio Favaro got his third Gold in a row

Upcoming event: Cannon Balls
This is essentially an unlimited event, except for one important twist; Cannons deal 80% more damage than normal. Getting out your Projectile formation is recomended. If you dont have one yet, some tweaking of the main formation is advised. Shields and weapons shold be considered, perhaps a few projectile Mechs should be brought in instead of some of the other weapon Mechs?
Then when you are finished, record it and it will be ready if you need it another time.
Equipment and the other weapons work as normal.

(Event ends April 6 between 1900 and 1930 New York Time)

Any fresh winners can try to get in touch to tell their story, the first to grab hold of me before the report is finished might get a few Niodes for sharing their thoughts.
