October 3333 - 20

Highlighting the October 3333 "20"
After the Ice Castles it was almost to be expected we had another special event.

The Game commission decided on one where most Commanders would have access to the Mechs used, the sub-25 tonners.

Unfortunately I was still extremely busy doing paperwork, so I couldn't join up immediately. As the scramble came I still had some details to take care of, but as soon as it were done I rushed my formation toward the mountain.

I was just about to sign in when the light flashed. Lesson learned, sign up early.

Those who signed up early and was at the tops when the light flashed this time was:
  • Div 1 216+ (31 Commanders): Sal Vezzosi Jr, Warlock (4h,20m)
  • Div 2 -215 (14 Commanders): Ian Deeks (4h,6m)
  • Div 3 -158 (26 Commanders): Eric Bell, Omegas Legacy (14m,12s)
  • Div 4 -120 (38 Commanders): Shandar Shadowmist, Deaths Brethren (14s)
  • Div 5 -97 (29 Commanders): Leeboy Wegenast, B.S.L.R. (13h,20m)
  • Div 6 -76 (17 Commanders): Jack Wade, M&L NecroManiacs (3m,54s)
  • Div 7 -62 (30 Commanders): Brian Wilson, Smurf War Patrol (2m,38s)
  • Div 8 -44 ( 22Commanders): Morgan McCallum, Heroes Light Brigade (1d,16h)
  • Div 9 -31 (16 Commanders): Robert Pawulski, Punishers Guild (2h,39m)
  • Div 10 -22 (17 Commanders): BatManBW, Punishers Guild (57m,53s)
  • Div 11 -16 (12 Commanders): Sally Matthews, S.G.C.B.B_T.S.R. (5h,2h)
  • Div 12 -10 (8 Commanders): Bill Harper (1d,8h)

3+6+6+0+1+5+3+1+5+6+4+1(G)= One Gold and fourty Bronzes went to Commanders who had at least one overweight Mech in their formations.

Total Contestants: 260, Total medals claimed: 169 (of 180 possible)

Compared to the Ice Castles there was a severe drop in the number of Commanders who showed up. The reduction of 169 contestants didn't cause more medals to be sent for resmelting though. In fact there were 2 more medals given out this time. Still, a total of 11 Bronzes were sent for resmelting.

The scramble was fairly short this time, barely seven minutes. During the last half-hour four Golds changed hands, one the last quarter-minute. Seven Golds were held for more than two hours, two of them for more than a day.
While I wont say this was a lax event, it was not the most action filled we have seen lately either. The number of lesser medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event was:

.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....2 of 4.........7 of 10
Div 2 ....4 of 4.........7 of 9
Div 3 ....1 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 4 ....1 of 4.........4 of 10
Div 5 ....2 of 4.........8 of 10
Div 6 ....1 of 4.........8 of 10
Div 7 ....2 of 4.........5 of 10
Div 8 ....4 of 4.........6 of 10
Div 9 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 10 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 11 ..2 of 4.........6 of 7
Div 12 ..4 of 4.........3 of 3

K4 was the most action filled top this time, the only other top where more than half the Medals changed hands the last half-hour was K7. Three tops had no successful attacks at all; K9, K10 and K12.
Best clan this time was Punishers Guild. They were the only clan to claim multiple golds, on K9 and K10 in this case. There were no repeat winners this time, but we had two unaligned winners; Ian Deeks on K2 and Bill Harper on K12.

The top unaligned winner, Ian Deeks on K2, might be a name unknown to most of the young whippersnappers who call themselves Commanders today. After his 28 years long hiatus away from the Mecha Galaxy, he returned and smashed all competition.
For those of us who had the privilege to be blown apart by him in the old days that came as no surprise.
In the last 100 events he participated in he got 3 Silvers.
The rest was Gold.

At lvl 199 he operates out of base NKINI and have room for 40 Mechs in his formation.
His energy levels are sky high, as he can do over 60 missions on Yomi Reefs without needing to wait for refill. He is good at most weapon types, but Cannons are his real forte. Currently the biggest Mechs he can pilot safely are 100 tonners.
As a former FUSION member his services will probably be highly in demand, and many clan leaders are probably begging him to consider signing up with their clan for the coming war.

Upcoming event: Sixty
Here we have another Maximum tonnage event. But this time we are allowed to use Mechs up to and including 60 ton. Bringing heavier mechs is discouraged, as they will only exist as empty spaces in the formations.
Equipment and weapons work as normal

(Event ends April 2 between 1700 and 1730 New York Time)

Any fresh winners can try to get in touch to tell their story, the first to grab hold of me before the report is finished might get a few Niodes for sharing their thoughts.
