April 3335 - King Chrono

Highlighting the April 3335 King Chrono

Finally an event where there wasn't conferences scheduled during the scramble. OK, actually it was, but as it was a Chrono it didn't matter as much as in a sudden death event.

It was an unlimited event, and when I finally was allowed inside the gates of K3 after the usual red tape there was only room out on the plains.

The opponents varied, from 13 levels below my junior, to 38 higher than me. The real challenge was the tonnage disparity. I had gained some weight, but still there were at least 15 competitors that had more than 400 tons on me.

But standing petrified by fear wouldn't get me any medals, so hammering my way into the foothills was necessary. I reached the highest of them, but then the opposition was too strong to advance further.
As usual in a Chrono, I returned from time to time when duties permitted, but while my performance eventually netted me a Bronze, the competition was way to strong for anything better.
At the award ceremony, those who had performed best on the various tops were:

  • Div 1 244+ (29 Commanders): Dexter Berry, Arcana Dragons (+37840)
  • Div 2 -243 (17 Commanders): John T Mainer, B.B.B. (+38750)
  • Div 3 -185 (23 Commanders): Mike Wach, Arcana Dragons (+1630)
  • Div 4 -134 (36 Commanders): Terry Harper, Arcana Dragons (+10250)
  • Div 5 -108 (32 Commanders): Duncan Cecil Goetz, L/C/H/T (+2200)
  • Div 6 -89 (39 Commanders): Richard Ward, B.G.B.S. (+46650)
  • Div 7 -65 (36 Commanders): Joshua D. Tatcher, B.G.B.S. (+21280)
  • Div 8 -50 (32 Commanders): Ken Holmes, Emerald Dragons (+23970)
  • Div 9 -33 (8 Commanders): DZ_Howes, Death`s Heroes of Dawn (+4660)
  • Div 10 -26 (44 Commanders): Steeven Petit, Punishers Guild (+30840)
  • Div 11 -18 (40 Commanders): growol, Borg Faction Wars (+6930)
  • Div 12 -8 (45 Commanders): LeepoH (+5380)

Total Contestants: 381, Total medals claimed: 173 (of 180 possible)

Compared to recent events, this was a huge hit. A sharp rise of 142 Commanders and plenty of contestants on the lower tops as well. The one marring fact was the narrow entry to K9 who resulted in seven unclaimed Bronzes.

The highest total scorer in this climb was Dexter Berry of the Arcana Dragons on Mount Olympus. His score of 177 160 was 910 higher than that of the two runner-ups. One of them, Richard Ward from Battle Group Black Star on K6, had the highest margin of win; 46 650.
The lowest score needed for a Bronze in this event was on K8 where unaligned Baron Fish took the last for 23 310.

The Margins for the Gold medals was generally high. Two was won by less than 5000 points, and six by more than 20 000. Further down on the slopes the difference between the medal tiers in this event was:

.......Silver to Bronze....Bronze to nothing
Div 1 ....14980...…...…….540
Div 2 ....32110...……......2900
Div 3 ......3000...…......…..340
Div 4 ....23480...…......…..300
Div 5 ....21490...…......…..840
Div 6 ....18690...…..........5240
Div 7 ......2480...…..........7880
Div 8 ......9640...…......…1810
Div 9 ......7960...…......…..N/A
Div 10 ….8370...….........1740
Div 11 ...21900...….........2720
Div 12 ….5610...….........2535

In general, high margins, except for most of the Bronzes on the five highest tops.

Battle Group Blackstar did well and secured two Golds (K6 + K7) but Arcana Dragons did better by claiming a trio of tops (Mount Olympys + K3 + K4).
There was no repeat winners this time, but unaligned LeepoH managed to secure the Gold on K12.

LeepoH is an absolute newcomer in the climbs, but started right away where it Counts, by taking a Gold. At level 7 the Palma Base who have room for 6 Mechs is a decent place to be. So far the skill Points have been kept in reserve, so top tonnage pilotable is 45. Lower tiered Factions looking for last minute reinforcements before the war could do worse than signig this newcomer up.

Upcoming event: Single Rainbow.

In this event only one Mech of each model is allowed to fight. As usual, there is no restrictions on what you want to have in the formation, but if you should bring, say a Boreas only formation, only one Mech in total will be allowed to fight.
Equipment and weapons work as normal.

Event ends May 16 between 1700 and 1730 New York Time.

Any fresh winners can try to get in touch to tell their story, the first to grab hold of me before the report is finished might get a few Niodes for sharing their thoughts.
