Highlighting the August 3335 Daemon Deadline
Another named Mech event was coming up. Daemons this time. I swore a blue streak.
Bad enough that my Daemons are not yet fully upgraded, but as usual when there is a Daemon event I was supposed to fight over my weight class. (I had special invitation to K2)
But there was the Unification incursion as well, While my main formation could stand up to them, using Daemons -and half finished Daemons at that, was a recipe for writing lots of "We deeply regret…" letters.
Then there was the fact that my chief Mechwrangler, Bruno, was wildly opposed to me being on the mountains. "To much fame, and to little rewards" was his opinion.
But I told him to expedite the upgrading, and have the Daemons in the front of the queue. Then I could get back later and rush to the mountain.
But that never sufficiently cursed son of a …. have plenty of tricks up his sleeve.
At t-8 minutes I and the other Daemon pilots got into the hangar and found our rides dismantled. A note from Bruno explained that the need for upgrading the power plants was the reason, but the Mechs should be reassembled tomorrow noon.
Only one thing to do. I got on the horn to my good friend and fellow Star League, Jorge Roman, and asked him to get me some notes and footage. As he had a good vantage point on the top of K4 he assured me it was no problem.
A later review of those notes showed the winners this time had been:
Div 1 255+ (21 Commanders): Bernard Johnson, Arcana Dragons (1h,49m)
Div 2 -254 (18 Commanders): Randy Taylor, Omegas Battle Squad (4m,12s)
Div 3 -190 (11 Commanders): Chong Chin, L/C/H/T (8h,27m)
Div 4 -145 (25 Commanders): Jorge Roman, B.B.B. (3h,59m)
Div 5 -112 (22 Commanders): Yusuke Paul Okabayashi, M&L B.S.B. (10h,51m)
Div 6 -94 (18 Commanders): Joey Goldez, B.G.B.S. (1m,34s)
Div 7 -76 (18 Commanders): Paul Olenen, Borg Faction Wars (5h,58m)
Div 8 -58 (14 Commanders): Roy Cristofer, M.P.A. "Elite" (40m,28s)
Div 9 -42 (17 Commanders): Sandie Elgie, Death`s Heroes of Dawn (26m,50s)
Div 10 -28 (38 Commanders): Steeven Petit, Punishers Guild (12m,59s)
Div 11 -20 (36 Commanders): Rick Herlock, Punishers Guild (18h,57m)
Div 12 -14 (36 Commanders): growol, Borg Faction Wars (12h,30m)
5+10(1S)+9(4S)+8(1S)+9(G)+10+11(1S)+8(2S)+6(1S)+2+0+0= One Gold, ten Silvers and sixty-seven Bronzes went to Commanders who had overweight Mechs in their formations
Total Contestants: 274, Total medals claimed: 176 (of 180 possible)
A huge drop in participation this time. Might be because the raid, might be because Commanders didn't have Daemons. Not that the last stopped many from competing and getting medals anyway.
Participation was again good on the lowest tops, but on K8 and K3 it was to few Commanders present to claim all the medals. A total of 4 Bronzes were sent for resmelting.
This seemed to be a pretty static affair on many tops. Those who had lots of Daemons took the tops and stayed there. Four Golds changed hands the last half-hour, while six were held for more than two hours. fighting for positions below the tops varied as well, as shown by the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event:
.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....2 of 4.........1 of 10
Div 2 ....0 of 4.........9 of 10
Div 3 ....2 of 4.........6 of 6
Div 4 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 5 ....4 of 4.........8 of 10
Div 6 ....2 of 4.........9 of 10
Div 7 ....4 of 4.........8 of 10
Div 8 ....1 of 4.........6 of 10
Div 9 ....3 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 10 ..2 of 4.........8 of 10
Div 11 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 12 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10
Again, the only top where more than half the medals changed hands was Mount Olympus. Three tops (K4, K11 and K12) had no successful medal attacks.
The only clan to claim more than one Gold this time was Punishers Guild. They took home the top prizes on K10 and K11. This time there were neither unaligned nor repeat winners.
Upcoming event: King Chrono
This is an unlimited event. Use whatever Mechs you have that fit into the formation. But it is also a Chrono, so signing up soonest and being highly placed on the tops when the snapshots are taken is the way to get good prizes here. Remember, it is the Commander who have most points in the end, not necessarily who stands at the top when the light flashes who will be declared the winner.
Equipment and weapons work as normal.
Event ends May 28 between 0400 and 0430 New York Time.
Any fresh winners can try to get in touch to tell their story, the first to grab hold of me before the report is finished might get a few Niodes for sharing their thoughts.
