Highlighting the January 3335 35 Alive
I was back from K2, and the new event was listed. It was for up to 35 tonners, so I cobbled together a formation and went over to the registry.
As I had been accustomed to lately, the effort needed to be entered into the books took many tries and plenty of time, but finally we were in.
The situation at entry was pleasing. Admittedly, the positions on the top were taken, but only a few were in formation. It would be a moments work to push those who were still in main aside, and a hopefully successful assault on the top should be executed in a minute or so.
I was about to give the order to move forward when a comm from base reached me. I stared at it, my presence was required at my earliest convenience. That is military speak for "get here five minutes ago".
Well, nothing to it, I had better get back and find what the problem was. There was still plenty of time before the scramble.
Right. Or rather, wrong. Without divulging military secrets, I can at least say I was a busy bee for a while. Then there were meetings, and a conference. The conference lasted well past the planned time, and when it finally was over so was the climb.
My personnel was getting used to these sorts of snafus, and had gotten me some notes and footage. The gist of it was that the winners this time had been:
- Div 1 221+ (24 Commanders): Claude Poirier, L/C/H/T (16s)
- Div 2 -220 (15 Commanders): Ken Fuchs, Arcana Dragons (5h,8m)
- Div 3 -158 (21 Commanders): Daniel Ovecka, L/C/H/T (12s)
- Div 4 -117 (18 Commanders): Sebastien Roussel-Konan, T.B. B. (12m,57s)
- Div 5 -95 (19 Commanders): Joey Goldez, Battle Group Black Star (1h,46m)
- Div 6 -78 (15 Commanders): Edmond Dantes, T.B. B. (19h,2m)
- Div 7 -63 (18 Commanders): Michael Moeykens, Emerald Dragons (8h,42m)
- Div 8 -48 (12 Commanders): Sandie Elgie, Death`s Heroes of Dawn (1h,14m)
- Div 9 -34 (16 Commanders): Rick_Howes, Death`s Heroes of Dawn (6h,41m)
- Div 10 -23 (7 Commanders): Brick House (11h,35m)
- Div 11 -20 (10 Commanders): Rick Herlock, Punishers Guild (13h,27m)
- Div 12 -13 (3 Commanders): BatGirl_, Troubled Minds (9h,3m)
2+8(1S)+4+4+3+8+2+2+2+0+2(1S)+0= two Silvers and thirty-five Bronzes went to Commanders who had overweight Mechs in their formations.
Total Contestants: 178, Total medals claimed: 153 (of 180 possible)
Compared to the previous (Ant) event, the news were bad, and somewhat uplifting.
Bad as in about a third fewer Commanders (70) showed up for the event, but somewhat uplifting as the lowest tops weren't quite as deserted as in the last event. Still, a total of two Silvers and twenty-five Bronzes, mostly from the three lowest tops, were sent for resmelting.
Three Golds changed hands the last half-hour, two of them the last minute. Seven Golds were held for more than two hours. A closer look at the results shows that the number of lesser medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event was:
.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....0 of 4.........2 of 10
Div 2 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 3 ....4 of 4.........7 of 10
Div 4 ....3 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 5 ....0 of 4.........5 of 10
Div 6 ....2 of 4.........8 of 10
Div 7 ....4 of 4.........6 of 10
Div 8 ....4 of 4.........7 of 7
Div 9 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 10 ..4 of 4.........2 of 2
Div 11 ..4 of 4.........5 of 5
Div 12 ..2 of 2.........N/A
Besides Mount Olympus, K5 was the only top where more than half the medals changed hands. At the other end of the scale was K2 and the five lowest tops, who had a grand total of 0 successful medal attacks.
Three clans managed to get double Gold this time: Leviathan/Collector/Heroes/Toys on Mount Olympus and K3, The Brotherhood BlackWatch on K4 and K6 and Death`s Heroes of Dawn on K8 and K9.
We had an unaligned winner; Brick House on K10, but none managed to repeat the golden performance of the previous event.
Upcoming Event: King Chrono
This is an unlimited event, no restriction on what Mechs you can use or in what numbers, although a wise Commander should only use the Mechs that is controllable and developed. It is also a Chrono, so joining up early to get the needed points for a medal is recommended.
Event ends May 9 between 2000 and 2030 New York Time
Any fresh winners can try to get in touch to tell their story, the first to grab hold of me before the report is finished might get a few Niodes for sharing their thoughts.
