January 3335 - Ten Red Tons

Highlighting the January 3335 Ten Red Tons
Another event. The last of my special invitations to K2, what format was it again?
Oh right, Ant event. I definitively wouldn't be there.

Firstly, my formation held only 30 Mechs, while the highest regular invitees could field 40.
Secondly, the fame factor was too high, a Bronze there would give seven times more recognition than a Gold on K5.
Thirdly, Brunos machinations had me at another conference at the time of the scramble, so there was no way to defend any gains.

On the other hand, as I was part of a big faction, there were plenty of others going there who was willing to share footage and take some notes. After sifting through it, I found the winners this time had been:

  • Div 1 207+ (34 Commanders): Stuart Myshral, L/C/H/T. (7s)
  • Div 2 -206 (12 Commanders): Randy Taylor, O.B.S. 1st Div. (5h,49m)
  • Div 3 -149 (34 Commanders): Richard Kotomski, I.P.G. (7m,25s)
  • Div 4 -108 (21 Commanders): Allan Davis, Emerald Dragons (5m,14s)
  • Div 5 -90 (29 Commanders): Sheila Hayes Fowler, Emerald Dragons (28m,2s)
  • Div 6 -71 (34 Commanders): Billybob Leory, M&L A.R.S. (5h,24m)
  • Div 7 -56 (13 Commanders): Bob Becker, I.P.G. (5h,18m)
  • Div 8 -40 (11 Commanders): AuraFr00b, Behemoth (4m,50s)
  • Div 9 -31 (21 Commanders): Barnry Miller, Borg (5h,38m)
  • Div 10 -18 (6 Commanders): Snowball7 (5h,24m)
  • Div 11 -12 (4 Commanders): ShoeShineBoy, M.E.C.H. (1d,4h)
  • Div 12 -7 (4 Commanders): Panthro_, Cold dead Hands (11h,33m)

0+4+1+2+3+0+1+2+2+1S+3S+2S= 6 Silvers and 15 Bronzes were awarded to Commanders who had other Mechs than Red Ants in their formations.

Total Contestants: 223, Total medals claimed: 142 (of 180 possible)

Compared to the Quad Chrono, more than a third, 116 Commanders disappeared. The lack was especially felt on the three lowest tops. The total of 16 attendants there were less than half of the number who showed up at the popular tops like K6. A total of two Silvers and thirty-six Bronzes were sent for resmelting this time.

Five Golds got new holders the last half-hour, one of them the last few seconds. At the other end of the scale, seven Golds were held for more than two hours, one of them for more than a day. to get the full perspective, let us look at the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event:

.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....0 of 4.........4 of 10
Div 2 ....3 of 4.........4 of 7
Div 3 ....2 of 4.........6 of 10
Div 4 ....1 of 4.........5 of 10
Div 5 ....2 of 4.........5 of 10
Div 6 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 7 ....4 of 4.........8 of 8
Div 8 ....2 of 4.........5 of 6
Div 9 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 10 ..4 of 4.........1 of 1
Div 11 ..3 of 3.........N/A
Div 12 ..3 of 3.........N/A

Vicious fighting on Mount Olympus, the holding time for the top five medals was 68 seconds, total. The two other tops where more than half the medals changed hands were K4 and K5. On six tops there was no successful medal attacks.

Both Independent Player Group (K3 +K7) and Emerald Dragons (K4 +K5) brought home two Golds. While none defended their Gold from the last event, we had one unaligned winner; Snowball7 on K10.

The first mention of Snowball7 in the KOTM Archives was the August `32 Cannon Balls where the result was a Bronze. In December the same year the first Gold, in the Axe attack Chrono, was achieved. Thios is so far the second Gold.
At level 17, Snowball7 probably operates out of base Egeria and have room for 9 Mechs. Skill Points have so far increased the energy bar to 42, and 65ton Mechs can be piloted safely.

Upcoming event: 35 Alive
This is a restricted event. The heaviest Mechs allowed to fight here are 35 tons. In my book that makes the best Mechs to use the following; Novum, Commissar, Keradon, Zadoc and Banshee. Of course we will probably see quite a few Holmes, and perhaps even iMechs as well.
Equipment and weapons work as normal

Event ends May 8 between 1800 and 1830 New York Time

Any fresh winners can try to get in touch to tell their story, the first to grab hold of me before the report is finished might get a few Niodes for sharing their thoughts.
