Highlighting the February 3337 Cruiserweight
Here we had an interesting exercise. Having a new Clan War coming where clans would be allowed to have up to 6 specialists, here was the perfect opportunity to test the 65 ton formations under field conditions.
I was going to sign up, honestly. I just had to tweak the formation a bit first, (well actually let Bruno do it) but I was heavily engaged in the Multiverse and time flew away. When I finally returned to the Mainverse the event was over already.
I managed to get copies of some gun footage from those who had been there and discovered the winners this time had been:
- Div 1 248+ (23 Commanders): Fabio Favaro, Warlock (1h,14m)
- Div 2 -247 (16 Commanders): Joe Kump, Spirit of Bunny (15h,22m)
- Div 3 -181 (19 Commanders): Leeboy Wegenast, Phoenix (12m,26s)
- Div 4 -134 (18 Commanders): Darren Jackson, M&L Blood Wolves (6m,35s)
- Div 5 -107 (13 Commanders): Jack Myers, Black Star Bandits (6h,50m)
- Div 6 -90 (16 Commanders): Edmuod Dantes, Steampunk Dragons (15h,44m)
- Div 7 -71 (27 Commanders): Shane Pheeney, Smurf War Patrol (1h,1m)
- Div 8 -50 (15 Commanders): Robert Pawulski, Punishers Guild (23h,20m)
- Div 9 -36 (10 Commanders): Pat Kash, Karma (19h,59m)
- Div 10 -27 (15 Commanders): Seven-of-9, Borg (14h,27m)
- Div 11 -15 (11 Commanders): growol, Academy (1d,2h)
- Div 12 -8 (12 Commanders): Travis Webb (1d,6h)
5+6+4+9+7+8(1S)+5+4(1S)+0+0+0+0= 2 Silvers and fourty-two Bronzes were awarded to Commanders who had at least overweight point mech this time.
Total Contestants: 201, Total medals claimed: 166 (of 180 possible)
This event seemingly wasn't what the Commanders wanted. Compared to the recent Chrono, 108 fewer showed up. It was still a fairly even spread, and "only" 14 Bronzes from four different tops were sent for resmelting.
This time it seemed the pecking orders was established early. Only two Golds changed hands the last half-hour, while eight were held for more than two hours, two of them for more than a day. In general these pecking orders held for the lesser prizes as well, just look at the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event:
.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....3 of 4.........7 of 10
Div 2 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 3 ....0 of 4.........2 of 10
Div 4 ....1 of 4.........6 of 10
Div 5 ....3 of 4.........7 of 8
Div 6 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 7 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 8 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 9 ....4 of 4.........5 of 5
Div 10 ..2 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 11 ..4 of 4.........6 of 6
Div 12 ..4 of 4.........7 of 7
Only on K4 and K5 was more than half the medals in play, and on eight of the tops there wasn't even one successful medal attack.
No single clan managed to secure more than one Gold in this event. Neither did any of the Chrono winners continue their winning streaks. We had one unaligned winner; Travis Webb on K12.
Upcoming event: 20 tons
This is a max tonnage tournament. No Mechs heavier than 20 tons will be allowed to fight. Commanders are of course free to bring heavier Mechs, but they will be treated as empty spaces in the formation when it comes to fighting.
Top Mechs here is the Commissar and Axe Bot, although Shocklites will probably be the most numerous Mechs encountered.
Equipment and weapons work as normal.
Event ends between 1800 and 1830 July 13 New York Time
Fresh winners who manage to get hold of me and tell their side of the story before the report is written might get some Niodes for their trouble.
