April 3338 - Point Mech Panic

Highlighting the April 3338 Point Mech Panic

The Point Mech is in general the most freewheeling events we have. When each Commander only have one Mech, the RNG gods influence is much more noticeable.

I had planned to attend, but injuries sustained in the war made it more prudent to stay at home. Some friends brought me footage of the fighting, and yeah, it had been intense.

Those who ended on the tops this time was
  • Div 1 273+ (26 Commanders): German Jaramillo, Warlock (Revenant)(9s)
  • Div 2 -272 (19 Commanders): David Cox, Warlock (Boreas)(5s)
  • Div 3 -192 (12 Commanders): Stroker Spot, Omegas Legacy (Boreas)(28m,23s)
  • Div 4 -151 (36 Commanders): Peter Marszalek Jr, Black Star Thundering Herd (Boreas)(22s)
  • Div 5 -116 (45 Commanders): Sebastien Roussel-Konan, T.B. BlackWatch (Boreas)(1s)
  • Div 6 -94 (27 Commanders): John Ringo, Steampunk Dragons (Boreas)(3m,49s)
  • Div 7 -74 (40 Commanders): John D, Death`s Curse (Boreas)(25m,31s)
  • Div 8 -55 (16 Commanders): John6402, Death`s Acolytes (Dreadnought)(4h,31m)
  • Div 9 -44 (18 Commanders): Anthony Cozzi, Behemoth (Skriag)(10h,9m)
  • Div 10 -32 (20 Commanders): BatManBW, Punishers Guild (Sever)(3m,41s)
  • Div 11 -23 (21 Commanders): Jan Petter Tmmerbakk (Luison)(3h,46m)
  • Div 12 -16 (28 Commanders): ShoeShineBoy, M.E.C.H. (Orcus)(29m,25s)

Total Contestants: 308, Total medals claimed: 177 (of 180 possible)

We had a drop of more than 10% (37) in participation compared to the mid-war Frontline.
However, there was enough Commanders present that all medals should have been claimed. However K3 didn't have a full complement.
XP scare? I don't know, but they returned 3 Bronzes for resmelting.

The only Mech model to gain their pilots more than one Gold was the mighty Boreas. Half of the winners (six) piloted this overpowered machine. The sole crystal Mech to gain its Pilot a Gold was the Luison.

As I mentioned at the start of this report, this was action packed. Nine Golds changed hands at least once the last half-hour, four of them the last half-minute.
Three Golds were held for more than two hours.

Lately it seem the tops have a pretty sharp divide in the middle when it comes to either willingness, or ability, to fight. Whether this is correct can be gouged by the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event:

.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....0 of 4.........3 of 10
Div 2 ....0 of 4.........4 of 10
Div 3 ....3 of 4.........7 of 7
Div 4 ....0 of 4.........6 of 10
Div 5 ....1 of 4.........6 of 10
Div 6 ....1 of 4.........5 of 10
Div 7 ....3 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 8 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 9 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 10 ..3 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 11 ..4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 12 ..0 of 4.........7 of 10

On half the tops there was full bore, or at least significant action. On the other half, little or nothing happened.
I admit it wasn't totally clear-cut between the top and the bottom, K3 saw little action, while K12 belonged in the more than half the medals changed hands Group. But all the 3 Zero action tops was among the lowest.

Best clan this time, and only clan to win more than one Gold was Warlock. Winning two Golds is an accomplishment, getting the Golds from the two highest tops is harder.
Unaligned Jan Petter Tmmerbakk managed to secure K11.
None of the Front Line winners made a follow up win.

Upcoming event: Fourty Chrono

This event have a limit on how heavy mechs we are allowed to use. Each individual Mech can be no more than 40 tons.
(And no, while you can bring half as many 80 tonners so you have the same total weight that still wont let you use them in the fight)
As it is a Chrono, the time to sign up and get points for the prizes is soonest.

Event ends August 19 between 1000 and 1030 New York Time.
