May 3338 - Fourty Chrono

Highlighting the May 3338 Fourty Chrono

Most Commanders understood the rules here, no mechs heavier than 40 ton allowed, at least a majority of those who got prizes.

Back in the beginning of the Millennium I started putting together a formation of Nifthels. That wasn't normal at the time, and while other Commanders might have better Mechs than me in the climbs, quantity have a quality of its own.

Soon my 40 ton force started becoming augmented by Nephilax` and later a few Novums. The 3 "N"`s gave rise to the nickname of that formation. Once as the sign tipped over they looked like ZZZ and "Snooze Company" became the call sign.

Since then my Nifthels have been retired, replaced in the formation by a Quartet of Novums and filled up with Nephilax`.

Question was, how potent was the force?
To find out I enrolled in the Chrono, and while I was able to take the top at first, there were several who were able to displace me.
But sheer grit and determination got me back again and again, and when it was over I had most points in my division.

The full list of winners were:
  • Div 1 233+ (30 Commanders): Claude Poirier, Leviathan (+24700)
  • Div 2 -232 (16 Commanders): Christine Mainer, Spirit of Bunny (+19790)
  • Div 3 -162 (30 Commanders): Sten Hugo Hiller, Star League (+26670)
  • Div 4 -120 (28 Commanders): Joshua Bourne, T.B. BlackWatch (+27970)
  • Div 5 -95 (28 Commanders): Debbie Cole, Phoenix (+14980)
  • Div 6 -71 (21 Commanders): Bob Goetz, Death`s Curse (+10850)
  • Div 7 -61 (18 Commanders): Naehan Montales, Smurf War Patrol (+11590)
  • Div 8 -46 (21 Commanders): Canis, Night Hammers (+4910)
  • Div 9 -33 (21 Commanders): Scott Tenge, Borg (+19040)
  • Div 10 -23 (16 Commanders): Dan Dcjw (+2390)
  • Div 11 -16 (18 Commanders): Argust Tuft (+7050)
  • Div 12 -11 (23 Commanders): Dacotah Keeler (+4120)

6(1S)+8(1S)+2+2+2+4+9(G)+2(1S)+1+2+0+0= One Gold, three Silvers and thirty-four Bronzes went to Commanders who had at least overweight Point Mechs at the end.

Total Contestants: 270, Total medals claimed: 180 (of 180 possible)

Perhaps it was the raid, perhaps it was the Chrono aspect, perhaps it was a combination as battling the raiders using 40 tonners was pretty suicidal.
Anywichway, we had 37 fewer Commanders who showed up compared to the Point Mech event.
But the divisions were, lets call it more, even this time and all the medals were claimed.

Top scorer was Christine Mainer from the Spirit of Bunny. She claimed the top at the earliest moment and kept it all the way to the end. 143 750 was the result of staying vigilant for 115 score rounds.
Highest margin to the runner up went to Joshua Bourne of The Brotherhood BlackWatch. 27 970 was an impressive display of strenght disparity.
Five Commanders had a margin of more than 15 000, while three won by less than 5000.
Lowest score needed for a medal was on K7 where 9600 was enough.

As always, the flow of Battle and how much one could attend determined how well one did.
We had the following differences between the medal tiers in this event:

.........Silver to Bronze...Bronze to nothing
Div 1 ......3080...…...…...3400
Div 2 ......4180...…........24800
Div 3 ....11350...…......…..915
Div 4 ....18240...…..........4980
Div 5 ....23470...……........340
Div 6 ......4630...…..........5680
Div 7 ......7660...…......…..960
Div 8 ....15100...….....….2220
Div 9 ......2620....….........4710
Div 10 ....5880...….…......3320
Div 11 ....2180...…….......5040
Div 12 ..24160...….…......5940

Except for the Bronze Battles on K3, K5 and K7 it was pretty big margins. Still, one Wonders if the final Board would have been different if some had showed up earlier.

No single clan managed to get more than one Gold in this event. Perhaps because we had a trio of unaligned winners?
Dan Dcjw on K10, Argust Tuftt on K11 and Dacotah Keeler on K12.
All showed qualities that should make clan leaders take a closer look when the recruiting opens again.
None of the Point Mech winners managed a follow-up win.

Upcoming event: Fourty

That's right. Same rules as the last event, except it isn't a Chrono this time. Wonder how many will be out of formation at the end this time.

Event ends August 20 between 0100 and 0130 New York time.
