August 3338 - King of the Mountain Chrono

Highlighting the August 3338 King of the Mountain Chrono (Unlimited)

After four events in June, the gaming commission allowed us a collective breath of air. They launched a really long Chrono that wouldn't end until the beginning of August.
I signed up, but I have to tell you the opposition was way stronger than me.
Perhaps not surprising as most of them had 25-85 Levels on me. I ended up in anonymity on the plains, but my footage at least proved the winners this time had been:

  • Div 1 243+ (28 Commanders): Dexter Berry, Warlock (+43310)
  • Div 2 -242 (23 Commanders): Bing Paculan, T.I.o.M.T. (+5330)
  • Div 3 -172 (30 Commanders): George Warren, Northwind Dragons (+27120)
  • Div 4 -129 (46 Commanders): Charles Zimbelman (+14420)
  • Div 5 -97 (25 Commanders): Jeff Christopher, Phoenix (+37350)
  • Div 6 -80 (36 Commanders): Fred Smith, Black Star Bandits (+36670)
  • Div 7 -64 (31 Commanders): Mike Slowenski, Emerald Dragons (+29650)
  • Div 8 -49 (22 Commanders): DJohn Ddrake, Death`s Reapers (+29010)
  • Div 9 -36 (32 Commanders): Yodayoda Woods, clown clan (+24450)
  • Div 10 -23 (21 Commanders): Chucky_, Retribution of Souls (+56190)
  • Div 11 -17 (15 Commanders): Dick_Dastardly, Jagdstaffel2 (+23740)
  • Div 12 -11 (35 Commanders): Donald_Trump_45, MAGA (+2875)

Total Contestants: 344, Total medals claimed: 180 (of 180 possible)
I don't know if it was the fact it was a Chrono, that it was unlimited or that it was long, but this event attracted 141 more Commanders than the previous (Oggun) event.
While the largest division had more than 3 times as many attendants as the smallest, all medals were claimed.

Highest score this time was achieved by Mike Slowenski of the Emerald Dragons on K7. His score of 186 250 was from grabbing the top early and holding on to it for 149 continuous score rounds.
Highest margin to the runner up came on K10. Chucky_ from Retribution of Souls ended up scoring 56 190 more than his closest opponent, almost 50% more.
Lowest score needed to get a medal was on K11 where 10560 sufficed.

In general, when you have a climb lasting this long the differences between those who work hard for their medals, or just have superior strenght, vs those weaker or less intensive in their striving is pretty big. So it was this time as well. Seven of the Gold winning Commanders had a margin of more than 25 000, while only two won by less than 6 000.
It was pretty big differences further down on the scoreboards as well, we had these differences between the medal tiers in this event:

.......Silver to Bronze...Bronze to Silver

Div 1 ......7720.........…..8940
Div 2 ....35980.........…..1380
Div 3 ....21000.........…..4640
Div 4 ......7200...…...…..1660
Div 5 ....33430...…...…..5080
Div 6 ....19160......……..3840
Div 7 ....10880...….......13070
Div 8 ......6960...…...…..4240
Div 9 ......4280...…...…..2220
Div 10 ..17920...…...…....260
Div 11 ..12460...……..….N/A
Div 12 ….6450...…...…..3180

On some of the tops the difference up to Bronze wasn't really large, but all the Silver winners had at least 4 000 margin.

No single clan managed to get more than one Gold in this climb. However, if our currently unaligned winner, Charles Zimbelman on K4, had stayed with Phoenix they would have had a double triumph. None of the Oggun winners managed to get a follow up Gold.

Upcoming event: 35 Alive
This is a tonnage restricted event. Only Mechs 35 tons or lighter will be allowed to fight. Great choices here are Novum, Zadoc, Trooper and Banshee. Others might trust the speed of the Keradon or the Orcus to carry the day. Holmes might well be the most numerous model on the tops.

Event ends August 25 between 1930 and 2000 New York time.
