November 3338 - Axe Attacks

Highlighting the November 3338 Axe Attacks

This was my fourth and last special invitation to K2 in this cycle.
While I was invited, prudence held me at home.
The fame factor associated by getting even a Bronze on the highest tops is simply to much for me, especially when I am short on resources and all my Mechs need upgrading.

But a friend who was going there anyway brought me some footage, enough for me to figure out that the winners this time had been:

  • Div 1 218+ (24 Commanders): Sherriff Leary Wretham, Warlock (45m,29s)
  • Div 2 -217 (11 Commanders): Stroker Spot, Omegas T.N.G. (14h,43m)
  • Div 3 -154 (17 Commanders): Carlos Chin, Heroes (6h,35m)
  • Div 4 -120 (17 Commanders): Chris Knight, Heroes Support (32m,3s)
  • Div 5 -94 (20 Commanders): Joseph Copenhaver, T.B. 1st K. Highlanders (7h,10m)
  • Div 6 -70 (14 Commanders): Patrick T Kennon, Sabbatical (42m,59s)
  • Div 7 -60 (10 Commanders): Jocephus Copenhaver, T.B. 1st K. Highlanders (7h,9m)
  • Div 8 -44 (16 Commanders): Arikel, JP`s Rowdy Bunch (13h,45m)
  • Div 9 -30 (6 Commanders): Donald_Trump_45, MAGA (30m,18s)
  • Div 10 -25 (11 Commanders): Dan Dcjw, Borg (7h,35m)
  • Div 11 -17 (13 Commanders): Richard Knight, MAGA (14,44m)
  • Div 12 -11 (13 Commanders): Bobby Blaylock (20h,29m)

6+7(1S)+8+9+9(2S)+7+7(2S)+13(G,4S)+4(3S)+8(2S)+10(3S)+0= Two Golds, seventeen Silvers and sixty-nine Bronzes were awarded to Commanders who obviously had one or more overweight mechs in their formations.

Total Contestants: 172, Total medals claimed: 153 (of 180 possible)

Fourty-two fewer Commanders showed up for this event than in the previous Shocklite Surge. Could be they were tired of light Mech tournaments, could be they felt themselves under equipped to compete.
If the latter explanation, they were perhaps wrong, more than half the medals given out in this contest went to Commanders not entirely in formation.
But the lack of participants meant a total of twenty-seven Bronzes from seven different tops were sent for resmelting.

No Golds changed hands the last half-hour this time. Eight Golds were held for more than two hours.
I have previously mentioned that it is a good idea to check how you and opponents do during the scramble. In this case we had a winner who didn't have even one single Mech in his formation.

The lethargy when it came to fighting for the Golds seemed to have cached on to the rest of the fighting as well. Not all over, but take a look at the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event:

.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....0 of 4.........6 of 10
Div 2 ....1 of 4.........5 of 6
Div 3 ....3 of 4.........7 of 10
Div 4 ....2 of 4.........7 of 10
Div 5 ....3 of 4.........8 of 10
Div 6 ....4 of 4.........9 of 9
Div 7 ....4 of 4.........5 of 5
Div 8 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10
Div 9 ....4 of 4.........1 of 1
Div 10 ..4 of 4.........5 of 6
Div 11 ..4 of 4.........8 of 8
Div 12 ..4 of 4.........8 of 8

On Mount Olympus more than half the medals got new holders. The four following tops also had varying degrees of action. On the seven lowest tops no successful attacks occurred, the only action was a latecomer signing in on K10.

Two clans managed to get a double triumph this time.
The Brotherhood -1st Kearney Highlanders took home the top prizes from K5 and K7, while MAGA was triumphant on K9 and K11.
None of the Shocklite winners managed a follow up victory, but we had one unaligned winner.
Bobby Blaylock brought home the Gold from K12. Impressive enough in itself.
But he did it without having even one Mech in his formation.
I frankly cant remember the last time that happened, or if it ever happened before. No legal Mechs, probably. But no Mechs at all?

Upcoming Event: Reverse Ratman
For those who cant read backwards, a Namtar event.
Unless you are assigned to one of the three lowest divisions, in that case it is an unlimited event.
For those on the nine highest tops, this is a pure Namtar event, no other Mechs are allowed to fight.
It is of course up to each individual Commander whether they want to add other Mechs, but those Mechs will exist only as blank spaces in their formation when the fighting happens.

Event ends September 2 between 1330 and 1400 New York Time.
